I've been pretty passionate about journalism for several years now. My intention was to major in journalism (communication) to pursue a career in broadcast journalism but I've recently become intrigued with film studies considered double majoring or minoring in it.

Besides a being a movie critic can anyone think of a career out there which could enable to fuse the two disciplines together.

Search the internet for various potential occupations with "what can you do with a major in . . . " Basically, the answer is "most things that you can do with a bachelors' degree." Most people end up doing something only slightly or not at all related to what they studied as undergraduates, and this also applies to many at the graduate level. Go learn about careers from the career center at your school. If you study film, you will have developed your visual perception, which might not happen in many other majors, or at least not as much. If you were to study film, hopefull you will get a great awareness of detail in general, something very helpful in careers and life.

Yes, this is about as true as it gets. The misunderstanding that college undergrads usually have, due to lack of real world experience, is that they think their major is what determines their future, and they're stuck with what they majored in. The reality is that life is a journey, not a destination (Hmm..i've heard that somewhere before) and there is no "straight line" to your career. Many a professor has advised me to remain open to explore new career options, and to let go of expectations of a career path, because your career (just like many things in life) will not be exactly how you picture it. And, I couldn't be more thrilled about this fact...who wants to have a life where everything is scheduled out for them and there's no adventure? HOW BORING
