Journalism Major Universities

Hi all-

I am an international student transferring in Fall 2013.

-3.86 GPA right now, expect to go up a little bit after this Fall
-96 TOEFL
-Staff writer for campus newspaper
-Student government rep
-Student Service Committee
-Tenure Review Committee

I've applied to U of Minnesota, Arizona State U, Ohio State U.
Which one has a better journalism program?
Or any other suggestions?

I would say Ohio State has the better program between the three. Have you tought about going to Northwestern?

Northwestern has a really good journalism program, but it is so expensive and it requires higher TOEFL

Here is a decent source. AZ St and U MN listed but not Ohio State. Ohio U is considered a top school.

Ohio U and not Ohio State U as wayneandgarth said. Many get that mixed up.

ASU is considered to have a pretty good program, I’d say the best of the three.

I personally prefer cold states better than hot states. I like arizona state as a school, but i dont like the weather.

Also, arizona state is a overall lower ranking scholl than the other two.

Should i choose the best program?
Or everything seems to be quite balance school? Like U of Minnesota

Well U of Minnesota is on the list for 50 best J-schools, so you can’t go wrong. I’m just saying from what I’ve talked to with journalists, ASU is said to have the better program, but going to ASU if you don’t like the weather and overall ranking isn’t what you want to do. Go with Minnesota if you like it, because they have an excellent program too.

The University of Missouri-Columbia has a very well-regarded journalism program.

Thank you so much for the responses!

Michigan State and the University of Montana
