Journalism program

Does anyone have a good insight to how well MSU's College of Communication Arts & Sciences journalism program is? I've also been accepted to Indiana and Mizzou (just into the school, I would still have to apply to the journalism school after freshmen year), but as of right now I am set on State because it's offered me the most money, and is the college I've been set on for awhile (regardless of their journalism program).

Would graduating with a journalism or communications degree hold more value coming from a more reputable journalism school other than MSU (pretty much Indiana or Mizzou), or is their really not much of an edge at all? I know for example IU is known for their internships with big media names, and Mizzou has an NBC station on campus, but I still know someone from MSU who has an internship with ESPN.

I don’t know too much about the journalism program at MSU but it is very reputable/respected as far as I know. One of my friends who is a broadcast journalism / international relations major just spent last semester in Georgia interning for CNN, so the opportunities are definitely there. I’ve not heard the greatest things about the journalism advisor and the intro level courses are kind-of a pain, but beyond that once you get into the real course curriculum I’d imagine them to be pretty solid…no idea about comparisons to other programs though. We have a very strong student newspaper so if you are interested in print journalism that would be a great place to get some journalism experience on campus. Big ten network, WILX-Lansing etc. also have student opportunities among others.
