Journalism program

I’m headed to northeastern next year, and I was wondering what anyone knew about the j school? Haven’t read anything about it, I would love to hear about anyone’s experiences/knowledge of it.

Not a ton of information here, but my suitemate/friend this year is a journalism major. She really, really loves it. She got to help with the media crew for the Head of the Charles boat/crew race and (got a free Brooks Brothers jacket!) She was for the most part happy with the faculty and had a lot of pretty cool assignments. She is currently on a journalism dialogue in Spain and they’re doing a lot of really cool stuff.

For what it’s worth also, the journalism major is relatively light in the sense that it has very few required classes for the degree compared to most other majors. So, I highly encourage pursuing a double major/minor/what have you; she took one up in linguistics, and has a minor in Spanish. With a major like journalism, I would imagine a language minor/major would be huge.

You’re heading to a school you know nothing about? Seems odd.

@bordertexan

I read it like that at first, but if you read it again you will see it is about the program, not the school as a whole. The OP could be undecided and looking into major choice, or the OP simply could have known it was the school for them without specific department information if their major was in a certain concentration, say Communications.

I love northeastern, I just had not heard much about the j school. I knew it was strong, and the co ops would make it more unique than the journalism programs at other schools. Glad to hear people like it! I know I want to be a journalist of some sort so they wasn’t much doubt about what I would major in. I would love to major in sociology as well, although I know that’s not the most lucrative major pairing haha @novafan1225 @PengsPhils
