I just found out I was waitlisted for the NHSI Journalism program at Northwestern. :( There was supposedly a lot more applicants this year. I don't know if that means I still have any chance or not, but does anyone know of any good journalism summer programs besides that? All of the ones I've looked up are mostly one week or two at the most, and I'm looking for a longer one if possible.

well I am going to take the basic Journalism course at Harvard SSP for 4 weeks. Not really a structured journalism program persay, but it's a journalism credit class.

thanks, I'll probably look into that and problems like it if it's not too late. anyone else?

THere's usually journalism workshops done by local newspapers. Last summer I went to a 2 week long workshop and it was pretty fun. Plus, it's FREE.

Harvard SSP is another option but it's super expensive (around $4000 for tuition+room/board)

Really, spiffystars, how can you find out about these workshops?

Just email your local newspaper(s) or call them up.
If they don't have workshops, you can always ask to be an intern or "job-shadow" any one of their reporters. :]

My S is going to the journalism program at Indiana University-Bloomington. Each session is 5 days long and there are 3 sessions (you can stay over between session).
