Can anyone tell me about the journalism program at USC? I've heard that the journalism/communications school is good, but is USC known for journalism at all? (Does it stand out from other schools?) I want to be a Print Journalism major.

I'm a junior in broadcast journalism, but several of my friends are print majors. The Annenberg School is very good, but may be slightly better known for the broadcast programs compared to print. Nevertheless, the school has extremely qualified instructors across all the majors. The newswriting class I took sophomore year was lead by a retired editorial page editor at the LA Times. The two people teaching my investigative reporting class right now were the reporters who broke the LAPD Rampart corruption scandal a few years ago.

There is also a fair amount of convergence for all journalism majors. As a print student, you are still required to take a class in basic writing for broadcast as well as produce short video pieces about news on campus. Internships are also plentiful in LA, especially if you are interested in entertainment or Hollywood news. Many students have internships at magazines or small daily papers, working there one or two days a week and even full time over the summer.

There definitely are better schools if you want a pure print reporting experience, but USC offers a balance of experiences in an enormous media market.

is journalism typically a hard major to transfer into if you list it as your 1st or 2nd major on an application?

Bump!!!!!!!!!!!

once again, im bumpin this bad boy.

I'm not sure I understand the question. If you apply to USC with your first choice being journalism, you will be considered for admission to Annenberg. There's no need to transfer into the school if accepted.

However, it is possible to be turned down for Annenberg, but offered a general spot in the USC college. From there, a separate application process is required for existing USC students to transfer into the journalism major.
