Anyone know how Temple's broadcast journalism program compares to the University of Scranton's communication major? I can't decide between the two.

One my family members children went to Scranton and after one year transferred to Temple. There was nothing to do in Scranton besides drinking parties. She loves Temple because its in the city and there is a lot to do.

The requirements for the journalism major and suggested plan of study at Temple can be found here [Temple University Undergraduate Bulletin - SCT/Journalism](http://www.temple.edu/bulletin/academic_programs/schools_colleges/sct/programs/journalism/sct_journalism.shtm)

In a city like Philadelphia, there should be lots of opportunities for unpaid internships to gain journalism experience. Scranton is an economically depressed city and I doubt that it offers similar opportunities. http://www.foxnews.com/politics/2012/08/29/scranton-takes-out-loan-to-make-payroll/

If you can’t find anything to do in Scranton you probably did not try. People give Scranton crap but most of those people never took a chance to really explore Scranton.

are you from Scranton? Sorry if I offended you but there is just no comparison between things to do in Scranton vs. things to do in Philadelphia. In addition to hearing this feedback from my family’s member’s daughter who attended the University of Scranton, I have also visited the city of Scranton and aside from the railroad museum and the mall there is really nothing to do there. It is also remote and there is no train to/from a major city. I found that ironic, and sad, given that Scranton used to be such a railroad capital.

I’ve lived in Scranton all my life, and I have to agree with pamom59 that there’s absolutely nothing to do around here.

Thank you for the advice! I have submitted my application to Temple!

Good luck Jerry!
