This is my first time posting to the site so sorry if this question has already been asked! I just finished applying to about 8 schools with Stanford, NYU, and Columbia being my top choices. Given my grades, test scores, etc I think I have a shot at getting accepted. The problem is, I want to major in journalism but Stanford and NYU are the only ones out of my top choices that offers it as a major. Columbia on the other hand, has a graduate school of journalism. Which is better and more beneficial: journalism on the undergraduate or graduate level?

I was an English major who took a minor’s worth of classes in my school’s Journalism Department. UR’s J department warns kids away from graduate degrees in the field. The industry is so much more about work experience than education. It might be helpful to you and might get you some long but good clips, but it also might not help improve your chances of employment.
