Journalism, UO vs WSU vs UC/CSUs

Hello, I am a CA high school junior with a strong passion for journalism (print and online journalism specifically) and I want to know what school is good for Journalism. I like UO but I would have to pay a lot more since I am a non-resident. I have heard WSU has a good Journalism program and they are in the WUE program which means I can pay cheaper tuition. Perhaps I am over-looking CA schools for journalism, are there any good CA schools for journalism? I am an AP student with an average un-weighted GPA of a 3.85 and I am currently taking 4 AP classes which help my weighted GPA quite a bit. Thanks a bunch!

You should look at ASU. The Walter Cronkite school is top rated.

I have looked into ASU and it is on my list but the only drawback is it’s in Arizona. I come from Southern California so I know extreme heat but I am hoping to move to a cooler climate for school.

Oregon has a great program. Eugene is a great place, they also have lots of resources for scholarships and financial aid. With your gpa I’m sure you have a 99.9% chance of admission and will probably offer you $$ when you receive your acceptance. Also fill out FAFSA and see if you qualify for that.

As for CA schools, Berkeley I believe is the mass communications department then grad school of Journalism. UCLA, USC, Pepperdine, SF State, Cal-Northridge, Cal-Fullerton, San Jose State and San Diego State also have strong programs.
