Journalism vs. Media, Communications, and Culture?

I'm very interested in media and ultimately would like to write or edit for publications like Elle, Harper's Bazaar, W, Vanity Fair, etc. I'm considering majoring in Journalism or Media, Communications, and Culture. Which major would be more useful to me?

Journalism is only available as a double major, so I would likely double up with History. Is A Journalism/MCC double major too repetitive, or is that the ideal course of action? What would you recommend? Any other ideas?

I’m a senior in MCC.

I don’t know if you can double major MCC/Journalism. From what I know about the Journalism program, the double major has to be in CAS.

From experience, I know that MCC majors get a LOT of internships in magazines. We have alums that work at Vanity Fair, and they sometimes come to the department for networking. In the MCC internship database, there are many listings for fashion magazine interns.

I know that the Journalism department is focused on hard news and investigative journalism. You can take Journalism classes AS an MCC major.

Personally, if you want to work in fashion mags, I would pick MCC, hands down. My friends have interned at fashion houses and at fashion magazines. You will make many connections as an MCC major, and you can take journalism classes as an elective.
