Got the call this afternoon from OSU. Made the cut and invited to the on-campus interview weekend March 2-3. Anyone else out there?

Congratulations!

I don't believe I qualified for these

What are those? I haven't seen much about them.

Battelle is full tuition/fees

Joyce is full tuition/fees, room & board, books, misc. expenses, and a stipend (this is from a current student)

Are they purely academic, or are there other criteria?

The Joyce and Battelle Scholarships are open to promising students from specific counties within Ohio--I'm not sure if a students application is automatically put into the running for these awards if they reside in that particular county, or if they have to fill out additional paperwork.

Ah, I see. Thanks for the explanation.

"To be considered for the Battelle [and Joyce] scholarship, you must reside in one of the following Ohio counties: Delaware, Fairfield, Franklin, Licking, Madison, Pickaway, and Union and submit a completed HOSA application. A minimum 3.5 gpa, 30+ ACT or 1340+ SAT (Critical Reading and Math), and top 10% of high school class is recommended to be competitive for this scholarship."

The HOSA is the Honors Online Scholarship Application that is for the Battelle, Joyce, and Presidential scholarships.

Counts me out, then. I'm from Stark.

Hey tennisgirl (you should know who i am). Ill def be there. Its so confusing that there are so many different scholarships!! "You will be interviewing for the Presidential, the Battelle, and the Glenna R. Joyce Scholarships." Does this mean we have an interview for each one... or do they use the same interview to decide all of them. eh, i guess we'll see when we get there.

hey yeahhh i did see you! :)

did you end up just getting one panel? i wasn't interviewing for presidential and i faced one panel for my interview.

yeppers! it was nice seeing you too. i def messed up my interview tho. >.< o wells.. caltech? hopefully ill see u at prefrosh weekend u should so come!

haha no matter...you always have Caltech as a backup :P Yeah I got my tickets for MIT's prefrosh weekend but not yet for Caltech's- have to check airfare prices again and see, but I do really want to go too!

I thought my Joyce/Battelle interview went fine, but I'm not sure if it's enough to distinguish myself from everyone else. Most of my questions were on my academic experiences/independent research and leadership
