Jr. High SAT scores as a predictor for HS SAT

A question for anyone who took the SAT in jr. high (7th or 8th grade) as part of a Gifted Talent Search (CTY, etc)...

How much of an increase did you find between the Jr. High years & either the 11th grade PSAT or 11th/12th grade SAT?

How much prep did you do the High School level PSAT/SAT?

Trying to get a gauge for how much to prep & how much scores will "naturally" rise over the time period since jr. high

I got 330+ from 8th to 10th and then another 150+ points in 11th…well, according to my practice tests. According to the real PSAT, my score is prolly much lower.

i took it in both 7th and 8th grade,
in 7th it was the old test
but in 8th i got an 1800
and now my scores are around 2100!

lol ummm i remember the VERY first time i took a practice test in like 8th grade or something… 7th grade? i got like a 1400 or something ahhahaha
i’m around 2000 or 2100 ish now i guess.

i took the sat the first year with the essay, in junior high, and i got around 450 for each section, from there my scores are much higher

I improved from a score in the 1600s in eighth grade to a score in the 2200s junior year, so there is definitely a difference there. I did prepare for the SAT though, both on my own and through a prep class, though the later was mostly a waste of time. Don’t worry if your eighth grade SAT score was too low; it will rise naturally as you improve in vocab and math skills over the years.

^we’re in the same boat calico.

7th Grade: ~1900
Freshman: 2270

Upcoming:
PSAT Junior (took recently): Expecting 220+, hoping for 230+
SAT Junior/Senior (taking next year): Hoping for 2350+

8th grade : 1300 400CR/400W/500M
9th grade: 1400 450Cr/450W/500M
9th grade summer : 1800 ish 520CR/550W/680M
junior year (current) : 2000-2100 600CR/670W/780-800M
hoping for 700CR/800W/800M
slowly getting there :D
