Jr. High Schoolers: YES or NO

really? did you use the web bundle thing? if that's what you are talking about, i did it too....

Yes, that's what we did and we got them early. If you get on the SSAT account and enter your user code and birthdate, click on Nov's test date and you can see if they have sent the scores to the schools yet. My scores went to the schools the 18th, so I checked Monday and the scores were in my inbox. Make sure you provided your correct email I guess. ????

but i did!!! i checked, too. they said all my reports were sent to schools on the 18th, and that i'll get mine by email by 21st and by mail by 22nd. got neither. i feel like dying of nervousness!!!!

I don't blame you - I was quite surprised by the quick turn-around. I hope it's that quick when I retake them in December - with hopefully better results. You could try and contact them. I know it says not to until after the 30th, however, based on the scores already going to the schools and your knowledge that others received theirs by email, maybe they'd be willing to look into it! I dunno, but it's worth a try versus sitting and waiting. You'll probably have to wait 'til Friday but it's better than next week!

thanks chopper you r the best :)

Hope it works - best is okay - definitely not the smartest though! Thanks and good luck on your scores! Happy Thanksgiving!

haha you too :) man i'm so hungry

i finally decided on which schools to apply to:
andover
exeter
choate
hotchkiss
deerfield
brooks
middlesex or peddie

lots of good schools.
my first interview tom!!!

Good choices and you're right, very good schools!!!!

yeah...today's my interview.....i'm shaking!!!!! sucks thumb
haha jkjk

where did you interview today and how did it go? I hope you're not shaking anymore and tell me what you thought of the school.

oh! i just saw this one...sorry chopper

i interviewed with hotchkiss, which wasn't that bad cuz he was really informal..haha
but i still wish i learned more about the school before i went, because i had to admit later on that i didn't know much about the school. :(

well hope yours go well :)

Thank God I'm all done with mine - now it's just sit and wait until March 10th. When are your next interviews scheduled and where? All of my interviews were similar but each had one unique question they would ask and it always threw me off guard. At one of my interviews, I actually blanked out the majority of the questions and just admitted that I didn't know the answers.. It's funny though because of all the school I've applied - that is my last choice school! Subconciously, I probably blew it on purpose!

whoa haha :)

man you are done?? lucky! i'm still scheduling phone/alumni interviews.

i sent an email to brooks, but they said they don't have any alumni or phone interviews available. i guess that's a gonner.

PM me all the questions you were asked..haha yeah, i'm giving u lots of work, but um....well, you don't deserve them, but pretty please???

:)

These were some/most of the generic questions I've been asked...
What attracted you to this school - What can you bring to this school -What are your favorite subjects and why - which is your most challenging subject and why do you feel it is a challenge - do you play sports - how long have you played - what are your goals or what do you plan to accomplish being a student here - have you done any community service and if so, what type of work have you done -
Now for the unique questions asked - Brooks asked me: In ten years from now where do you see yourself and how will a Brooks education help you attain that goal? Pomfret asked me: Sports teams are chosen based on skill and not necessarily grade level, what is your opinion on that philosophy -- Portsmouth Abbey asked - Do you possess any qualities that you feel would significantly contribute to the students' lives (weird, huh?), Tabor Academy dwelled on recent school work (particularly Enlish) and asked several questions about what topic I chose for a short holiday story, why I chose that topic and how that topic compared to my every day life. That was the most difficult to answer and I shot from the hip on my answer. Williston Northampton's interviewer told me I could pick any seat so naturally I sat in his comfortable leather chair behind the desk - the most unique question asked was "why did you choose my seat versus one of the uncomfortable seats?" Berkshire asked me how I am able to balance academics, athletics, homework, and community service and do I ever feel overwhelmed --Moses Brown is the one school that I can't remember any unique specific questions - I'm thinking he just asked the general questions. Hope this helps you!

wow. i think i'm in love with you now. THANKS!

wait, you picked the INTERVIEWER's spot??? haha that's hilarious. although my sister has never interviewed before, she'd say i'm gonna fail if i don't answer every question perfectly. haha

andover interview TODAY!! i'm so nervous. i'm going to this hospital (an alumni interview) at 5:00. wish me luck!

I'm sorry - I just seen your message! Yes, I did pick the interviewers' chair - I figured - why not? - I was the most comfortable at that interview and it felt awesome to sit behind the desk! Yes, I'm done. Also, I retook the SSAT's and I'm very happy I did. I improved all the percentiles to above 95% nationally and above 70% on SSAT averages. I am pleased but I really thought I could do better than those first scores so I'm happy I retook them. I thought the essay question was harder the second time around though. I more or less drew a blank and just bullsh????? my way through it. How did the Andover interview go? I hope well. Keep me posted!

it was okay...he was really nice. :) my deerfield interview today!!

WOW SSAT SCORES!!! i'm so happy for you!!! :) YAY

WOW.

This is almost exactly like the college boards in the "did you get in" and "what is your SAT score" sense. I had no idea that getting into these private schools was so rigorous. I've always been pushed around (quite literally) in large pubic schools where half of my classmates didn't even speak English. This whole world was completely foreign to me until I went to the UChicago summer program.

You guys are amazing, so if you don't get into these insane private schools, don't think that you can't succeed in life. Because...just wow. This thread completely astounds me.

And you guys are writing very well -- better than most of my friends. You could totally pass for high school students, heh.
