Jr. High Schoolers: YES or NO

AndiOrz - Thanks for the kind words - I actually found this site by accident and there's a few threads that I like to read. wantascholarship and I seem to have things in common (except the schools we're applying for). I hope to get accepted somewhere I applied but I know the financial aid requirement will hinder my chances some. I'm just keeping my fingers crossed until March and we'll see what happens. I have a good catholic local school as an alternative if things don't work out at a boarding school. Thanks again!

hahha me too i found this by accident...
before i knew that i had to take tests and go to interviews, i was looking for scholarship offers so that i'll have the money first. well, this site didn't help in that sense, but eh.

all of the boarding school stuff is getting on top of my head these days...i'm just so tired and my mom's threatening me that i probably won't be able to get in because i'll miss all the deadlines...--;; sigh
i just want to get in....my first choices are andover and exeter, but i know choate and hotchkiss and deerfield are good and hard to get into as well. i'm also applying for peddie because they offer merit based scholarship (1000 dollars). thanks andiorz! :)

wait, chopper's catholic? me too!!!

Yes, Catholic! too funny!

I go to a Catholic school (after being waitlisted at Andover)--Im not Catholic though.. hehe.

I didn't apply to any safeties, so if I don't get in to any schools I'm going to the craphouse nearby.

Mmm.

Good luck KissMeKate - I'm sure you'll be fine!

as far as i know, chopper, kissmekate, and i are all applying for boarding high schools. anyone else??

Well, I'm only applying to day schools.

really? i see...

Honestly, if we had a better choice of schools in my immediate area, I too, would apply as a day student but most of them are only into buying their way in around here. I hate the nose in the air attitudes from the students attending those schools and the boarding opportunity will offer me an experience with all types of students. Don't get me wrong - I know the nose in the air attitudes will be present at boarding schools as well, but there will also be more students with an average background like myself. I'm just not into the cliques at all and certainly am sick of those with the money attempting to buy their friendships. Sounds harsh I know and I'm not bitter about rich people, I'm just tired of the games is all.

choppper- did u like berkshire?

(im a student there, haha PM me if u have any questions or anything, id be happy to talk to you) :)

only things i hate about boarding school:
picky application process
money

:)

o man, after all your apps are in it is so so much nicer. same with college a presume.

the money does suck tho.

dande - yes, I liked Berkshire a lot! It was the first school I went to that I felt extremely comfortable. The lobby was filled with prospective hockey player (which I don't play hockey) and felt awkward for about the first five minutes. Once I started meeting everyone, admissions personnel, student guide, teachers, and coaches, it was awesome. The campus is beautiful and there's a real laid back feeling I got which I liked. Some schools I've applied have felt total opposite - like stuck up so Berkshire is definitely one of my choices. I'm applying for aid though, so we'll see if I get accepted!

wantascholarship and all the rest of you..see http://talk.collegeconfidential.com/showthread.php?t=130915

What are your stats, wantascholarship?

Where do you live too?

chopper- haah yea berkshire does recruit a lot of hockey players and its a big deal at the school- but im glad its one of ur top choices! the campus is beautiful (and there are so so so many different things happening to campus, by the time ur graduate u should have a new dorm., a new theatre, and new science and math building and by next spring there will be two new hockey rinks, based on the ones a middlebury college. i dont kno if u saw our hockey rink but it needs help. the rinks they are building are beautiful. and i dont even play hockey.)

haha any questions, about workload, dorm life or w.e., haah PM me

to answer the question that this thread is based on...if you look at the KissMeKate dedication thread..you will see that the answer is a 'Yes'..

Berkshire?
