I'm interested in the Junior Statesman of America Summer School. It is held on four different campuses: Stanford, Princeton, Yale and Georgetown. What do you think about the prorgram. Has anyone been to it? Would you recommend something about politics other than JSA?

I attended JSA a year ago (summer before my senior year) at Georgetown. I DEFINITELY recommend it, particularly the Georgetown one because you get the best and most relevant speakers. The classes are overall amazing, though I do not recommend Con Law. Just be warned, the work load is pretty intense, as its about a semester's work in three weeks, but its very good. I now go to American University, and my roommate and many other friends of mine also went to several others.
Message me if you have any other questions!

Hey, I'd also like to know if JSA is worth going to. I mean, it costs a lot of money. Couldn't it be one of those "fake" programs that aren't really worth the money?

Hi guys, I was actually accepted into Princeton JSA, and I got a scholarship but it wasn't enough to get me through. I chose an intership at the Anti Defamation League instead. But anyways, I applied and tried to make it because it really seemed worth it. It's work intensive and they really treat the courses as if they are high school classes. I want that kind of experience. So this year,i'm re-applying for financial aid to hopefully get a scholarship. My seat is pretty much guaranteed and I don't have to send in all the materials all over again. I just hope I get a lot of scholarship cause yeah, the program is pretty expensive.

Trust me, I took AP Government at G-town, it is not a "fake" program. When you have to write 4 essays as a supplement to your final exam, you will realize how hard it is. Some days, it is 6 hours of lecture! The assigments are at G-town:
1. Midterm
2. Final
3.Debate, with 3 subsequent speeches
4. 15 page term paper
a ton of reading, about 200 pages a night.

yeah..jsa princeton was no joke...the proffesors have major connections with admission staff (my proffesor's son was on the harvard admission staff and the girl she recommended suck up got in). i went A/A in my speech and comp. govt. classes but they weren't easy. from jsa 4 of my friends went to pton, 2 to harvard, 2 to yale...and those were just some of the ppl i hung out with...

I went to JSA Stanford last year and will be going to JSA Georgetown this year. It is definatly one of the best summer programs out there let me just list a few points.

Very diverse student group from many states and countries. (in my residence hall we had guys from Korea, Guam, Saipan, Samoa, Puerto Rico)

The Debates really allow everyone to come out of their shell. I went in as a debate newbie and came out with a best speaker award.

College level courses with real college profs. These prof's are really top notch and you will get to know them really well. I'm sure that they would be great refrences/rec's in the future.

JSA is a serious and respected program, its the largest student run organization in America.

Guest speakers are not only very important people, but really open themselves up to questions from the students.

You will learn way more about yourself being around students as politcally aware as you who will push you and your views.

and lastly, it still has a lot of fun with all the work. we had 4 dances on the saturday nights. there was even some summer-flings/relationships. you will become best friends with your hallmates. and by the way if you ever hear about a legendary prank squad called Oceans 5 from Stanford, I was one of those members. We pulled what was called the greatest prank in JSA history.

Hypebeast- I beg to differ about the greatest prank/group. Our floor was named the FFLA Fifth Floor Liberation Army, we broke every rule on the list, took over the office, got yelled at by northeast program director every night, and engaged all other floors in a couch war, we had 8 couches one night!

I actually heard about FFLA at Stanford. We had both program advisors fly out to yell at us and find out who exactly was in Oceans 5. I guess we will never know who's group reigns supreme.

That's hilarous! I really do hope things go ok. I wanted to go to JSA really badly, but didn't get the amount of scholarship I wanted.....plus I don't know if I got into my other programs. My intern at the UN is my first choice though.
