have any of you guys heard of it? It's a private college in Florida. If you guys have heard/vistited it, what do you guys think?

If none of you have...what is ur opinion about going to a university that mostly no one has heard of?

jacksonville is boring......why dont u just go to university of north florida....

i'd only be going (if i chose to) because my aunt and uncle live in jacksonville on the naval base there...so it would be like...free room and board...(i live in so flo)

Wasn't there a bit of financial shenaningans on the part of the Jacksonville University administration a year to two ago? That's what I remember reading in newsreports.

shrugs beats me

I'm in Gainesville with a lot of friends in Jax, and I've never heard of it.

JU used to be Catholic.....maybe still is. It has a very good music department and is well respected here in North Florida. You'd get a MUCH better education at JU than at UNF, hands down.

serious? Maybe it's cause im down here in so flo (south florida) that I dont rly know about it as much as other colleges and don't respect it as much. but we'll see when i check it out. Ppl in so flo are mainly about UM, USF, UCF and the only upstate college they really talk about is UF, not so much UNF though.

if JU wasnt a catholic school, you think it would be more up there in the ranks?

So IB.Flip, your saying religion holds back schools from succeeding, both overall and in rankings?

I wasn't trying to get into a whole religious debate (or however you want to call it), i was just simply asking a question. Sry if my question offended you or something.

I was just thinking, because its a catholic based school AND private school, that not many students (especially if they are of different religion) would apply to that school or want to go there, even if it is a good school. Especially because there are other really good schools around that area too. I guess you can say that that was what I was saying, that "religion holds back schools from succeeding" but I didnt mean to be offensive. Anyway, it's not technically "holding them back" its more like, making the school have to try harder to succeed and compare to the other schools.

I know that they reached the 1970 NCAA Basketball Finals and lost to UCLA but that's about it.

JU sucks. It's not really a smart kids school. Like 25% of the kids who go there have above a 3.5. Just go to UNF.

There's a few Catholic universities in the top 2 tiers. Religious affiliation doesn't hold the school back unless perhaps it's inclusive like Bob Jones or Patrick Henry.

Maybe take a look at Flagler College in St Augustine - not sure where the naval base is located in Jacksonville so I'm not sure if the commute would work out but I'm guessing it may be about 45 minutes or so. Flagler is reasonably priced for a private school.
