I am an International student, currently studying 12th Grade in the United Arab Emirates in a school which follows Indian curriculum CBSE (Central Board of Secondary Education).

I just wanted to know what my chances are in getting admission into UT Austin for Aeronautical Engineering

I dont have GPA grading in my school. The grading is purely based on marks obtained:
9th - 85%
10th - 90%
11th - 80%

My school does not have GPA grading but if it had then my score MIGHT be :-
9th - 3.7+ (coz i got A's in all my subjects)
10th - 3.7+ (coz i got A's in all my subjects)
11th - 3.2 - 3.4 (coz i got A's and B's)

I had also recieved a half-fee scholarship in grade 11.

ACTIVITIES :
I have been selected to attend the Global Young Leaders Conference (GYLC) in Washington/New York this year.
Swimming
Singing
Made Robot for science exhibition
Created a presentation on the periodic table
Helped the team in coming 3rd in an inter-school robot competition
Part of the school Anti-Smoking Committee
I have been learning Indian Carnatic Music vocal for over 10 years and have give a and half hour concert. I have also been learning Carnatic Music violin for over 3 years.

SAT SCORES:
MATH - 700
CR - 600

Going to give it again to get a score around 1350 - 1400.

Going to give SAT II's in November. Will get above 750 in maths, physics and chemistry.

Teacher Recommendations will be really good. Not sure what the school counsellor will write (but got info from previous school mates in US universities that we usually get really good recs).
Am going to start working on the essays when the apps are released and HOPEFULLY they should be good.

Will appreciate all responses. good as well as bad.

Opinions on chances of admissions will also be accepted for the following universities as well UMich, Ann Arbor, UVA, UIUC, University of Notre Dame, UCLA and Cornell University.

Well you have a very good chance of getting in to UT. I had similar marks too and my SAT scores were lower than yours. I applied for Computer Science but I think UT would be a safe match for you.

Could i apply for an honors program if UTA has one

Can i also ask for scholarship or do i need to have better scores coz i definately need a scholarship to attend this otherwise i have to go to Texas A&M or Texas Tech where the fees are cheaper

will my chances really depriciate if i got around 2.8+ GPA for my 12th (the indian system sucksssss). I am no longer trying for the honors program coz i know i will not get into it.

Is there any way that i would be able to calculate an accurate GPA so that i will be able to decide whether or not i will have a chance at UT.

yes it will affect your chances. what is your rank? UT looks a lot into that. I urge you to apply to the honors program, if you have good essays and ec's you might still have a chance. Try to get around 85% in your twelfth to be confident of getting into UT.

i am within the top 15% for sure and maybe in the top 10%.
Even with such a bad score i made it in the top 15% coz the exams were really tough and it was considered that getting around 50-60 / 100 was a great achivement.

Though i got 68% (very bad) my rank was 10/90 as only 90 students are in the science department. The commerce department has around 180 - 200 students

Will my chances really improve because i am applying to aeronautical engineering and since it is not such a common engineering program i was hopin it might have far less students applying for it that other engineering programs.

I have started studying seriously and hope to get around 75 - 80% in my next exam which will guarantee me all A's.
