Juilliard

Has anyone heard back about auditions? So nervous... eek. Let us know ASAP after you receive emails/letters/whatever!

LOL....you've got another week at most to wait! Just heard from MSM - e-mails with results of pre-screening will be out next week.

Has anybody checked their "track status" on their online application? My son's application didn't state audition city and time yet, but all of the dates of transcripts and reccomendations were posted. My friend's son had everything updated and an audition city and time posted. I'm wondering whether this is a clue that one has passed the prescreening phase or not.
Yikes.

Hm. What is your friend's son's major? That could be why his is posted already.

I'm a piano major and very concerned I didn't pass prescreening, because the only item they posted as recieved is prescreening. They didn't even update transcripts or recommendations even though I sent them in...

We've gotten 4 e-mails from Juilliard since submission in October. Maybe this is because it was done on-line. If you have not received anything from them, by snail mail or e-mail, I would start calling. I would start with your school to confirm that they sent out your transcripts.

I just found out today I got an audition for voice!

from the app. status update on the website

Pianoman: Don't worry; they may take awhile to post transcripts, etc. It looks as though they have not made the decisions yet for piano.

The same happened to me, pianoman1189... I asked my counselor and teacher if they have sent in everything, and they said yes. I'm so confused o_O?? Have you heard anything for jailyard, mamenyu?

Thanks mamenyu... I sure hope you're right.

I'm...

so nervous.

My friend who studies at Juilliard said that piano prescreening acceptance/rejection will be mailed out next week, as mentioned above by ABlestMom.

I called Eastman yesterday and found out I passed prescreening. If you have the guts, you can call Eastman and find out your status.

Grad piano perf major - still haven't heard anything about pre-screens. I am expecting something today.

Called Juilliard on Tuesday and they said emails would go out at the end of the week. Assuming the end of the week would be...TODAY!

Good luck, y'all

Congrats Natalied1!!!Best of Luck!

thank you!!!! :) i'm sooo excited!

Remember that in the past they have e-mailed prescreen passes, snail-mailed non-acceptees. Good luck to all!

Just spoke to Admissions person who said that JAZZ studies is delayed and may not get their prescreening responses out until next week.
Nervewracking, for sure.

For piano, they are sending e-mails today; the audition dates will be mailed by February 1 and the track status section of the online application will also give the date and time.

Received my email this afternoon from Juilliard...sending their regrets that I wouldn't be invited to audition for the Master's program in piano perf :(

May everyone else have better luck!

It is better that both notices come e-mail. Two years ago, S had gotten e-mail notice, but several friends did not hear for another week or so, and it was very uncomfortable. Ultimately those who did not hear in initial e-mail had regrets via snail-mail. One chose to appeal it, apparently there was a process directly to chair of area, requires letters, new recording, etc., but it was not successful. That too was an uncomfortable situation.

It seems to me that it is appropriate to trust the faculty at each particular school, speaking of conservatories, to admit those students they believe are ready for what they have to offer as teachers. It does not necessarily mean that those not selected will not be successful, but rather that this is not the school for them right now. It is important to attend where one can be successful, because gaining confidence is an important part of the process.

Good luck to all!

Yes, lorelei, thank you: after 18 years as a professional musician (I'm 37), I feel much better about not having been invited to audition, just thinking about all the confidence I will gain at the grad school I wind up attending.
