Does anyone know if you can be accepted into the voice program at Julliard and take classes from the drama and dance program?

i know as a voice major you are required to take movement.

the dance teacher i studied with this summer is the dance teacher for the voice students.

Your best bet on this type of question is to ask the school. I believe at Juilliard that pretty much all your classes are required based on your major and that you have little time for anything else. We only looked at drama. Since drama includes voice and movement, I would assume voice major would include some amount of classes in drama and movement, but they can tell you at the school exactly what you would take. I do not think you would cross over and take classes with the other majors. You would take these classes only if they are specific to your major.

ericsmom has great advice! From what I have heard about Julliard, Music majors may take dance and acting classes but these are specific classes offered for the music majors.. not the same classes that the dance and theatre majors are taking in their departments.

I remember years ago when I looked at Rutgers (another conservatory program, but I looked in acting) that they told me that even though the music and dance majors were strong, I would not have the time, nor be allowed to take any of those classes with those majors... I ended up gooing to Syracuse as a music theatre major because it was a program where theatre and dance were in the department, we would take acting classes with the acting majors, and they had already worked it out with the music school for us to take our voice lessons and music classes there.

Alot of conservatory programs seem to have a similar philosophy... they ar all at the same school but have seperate courses for students in each of the majors. I am sure if you call Julliard they would be able to answer your questions very specifically.
