Do colleges look at the Combined English/Writing score and take it to be the final ENGLISH score or does it not have any importance as such?

I seriously doubt they use it. First of all, they could only use it if they require the writing test. Second, it's too new for colleges to know what it means. Maybe after it's been around for a few years, they'll analyze some data (like look at their students' scores together with their grades in college) and figure out if it has any more predictive value than the English score alone. For now, I wouldn't worry about it.

I do think that colleges would be interested in the Writing score and in reading your actual essay.

I was wondering if the act has the same thing as the sat where you can send for the test and what you got wrong in each section, like the SAT Q&A. and how do I order it.

Just a quick question to all who have not yet received their scores--Is the anyone from New York that HAS received a score?
[/quote]
What does being from New York have to do with it?
Did you take writing? And is it possible that you owe ACT money for something--like testing at a different test center than the one you were assigned to, or on a different test date, or taking the writing test if you didn't register for it?

Is it possible that you didn't put down the correct test code or serial number, or that you didn't copy your matching information exactly from your admission ticket?

I am in New York and have not received my scores by mail yet. I took the test at my assigned location, was not a standby, paid for the writing section when I originally signed up for the test, and made sure that I filled in the correct numbers on the answer sheet.

Does anybody know when they are available for free online? I don't want to pay another $8 just for my essay score when I already know my multiple choice scores.

From those who got their scores and from how they thought they did (either well or bad on a particular section)...on which sections was there a "nice" curve and on which was there a "bad" curve in your opinion?

If there is something wrong with my scores, I wish they would just tell me already. I hate the false hope that I get every day that they post more scores. Of course, mine are never there. :(

Now I'm thinking that the school is partially to blame for all of this...

I mean, what are the odds that the only two people (that I know of anyway) on this entire message board that haven't received their scores yet took it at the same school?

No doubt they have not yet gotten to our bundle. I sure hope the tests made it to the test center. If not--well--you know what happened last time they screwed up.

I meant the class action over the grading mistakes. Perhaps an IM chain among friends whom you know took it at Hills West. None of mine have received grades.

I have talked to some people who took it at West. I know of one girl whose scores were posted. All of the other people I know of who took it there really don't care too much about the ACT, took it as a whim, and are just going to wait for their scores to come in the mail. I'll keep asking around and if I hear anything I'll post it.

I live in Michigan and got my scores in the mail today. I had already checked online for my score which was 33 but I wanted to know what my writing was. I got a 10 which is ok but I know my writing is better than that.
