My son took the ACT in April and got a 32. He wanted to improve and just took the June 14th one. His feedback was that he pretty much messed it up and could not finish couple of sections.

Does it make sense to cancel his scores and take it again in September? I don’t know how ACT works compared to SAT.

@zubear, I would never cancel the score. Just go through and make sure that if he felt he did poorly, you don’t automatically send this particular score to colleges.

That way you will personally know how he did (sometimes you can feel badly and get a good score) and you will always have the option to manually send the scores yourself.

I thought the reading and science were fairly difficult. English was easy, but more difficult than normal. Math was way easier than normal. Do you guys agree?
Also, what was the Part 5 test about? What kind of questions/subjects? Just wondering, I know it doesn’t count. My proctor didn’t make us take it. Should she have?

I feel like the test was relatively easy…English was harder than the first time, I didn’t finish math but then again it’s my weakest area. I’m just hoping for a good score…do we get the MC scores earlier than essay scores?

@DL43156 Yes I am. They always say that. Well actually ours told us 2 weeks. But the Feb 14 2014 ACT said 5-8 weeks and I got it on Feb 29th I believe.

@DL43516, it doesn’t take that long. To come in the mail, maybe. But unless your scores are delayed for some reason it’ll only take 2.5 weeks. I took it February 8 and got my score on the 24, so that’s less than two and a half weeks…

@DL43516 I got my dates mixed up, GB1904 was right I took it Feb 8th got it back on the 24th. But still quick.

What about that question where it asked where to put this sentence about how the artists made each pot uniquely, where did you put it? The only 2 logical answers were the last sentence of the paragraph or after sentence 2 of the paragraph.

I am so glad that I am done with the ACT for the summer!!! NO MORE PRACTICING.
For Me: The English was pretty easy, but I had a couple of questions that I was not sure about.
I only had to guess on 2 math questions. I did not run out of time; I simply did not know how to do those 2 questions. I probably could have figured it out if I would have had unlimited time or whatever, but I was not aiming for a 36 on this test anyway.
The reading was the hardest for me. I did not run out of time, but the 3rd passage annoyed the crap out of me.
Milestone!!!
THIS IS THE BEST PART: I finished the science part with 3 minutes to spare. I did not guess on any questions. I felt so comfortable. The first time I took the ACT, I did not even finish half of the science questions. I felt so good about the science part. YEEESSS!!!
I loved the writing topic as well. I am glad that they did not give me a topic that I would have nothing to write about.

I think I scored: Underestimate: 31 Overestimate:34

I plan on retaking in September regardless of my score.
