June 14 2014 ACT Discussion

Wasn’t the last question on the chem passage (asking about something’s volume at -30 degrees C) also about knowledge rather than reasoning? Because there was nothing about -30 degrees C or any temperature changes in the two figures, and you had to know that volume of a gas decreases as temperature decreases? Or am I missing something?

I used white- colorless.

Also for lipid its ATP. It isn’t unfair.Though I must admit,it’s something I learned wayyy back as a freshman. There was this song that I remember being taught so that saved me.

Tbh Im going to be shocked if I get 25+.then again, if I do get 25+ im burning all act and sat books as celebration.

Ugh i hated how i guessed on most of math cause most questions made no sense/pressed for time.

Ph was easy for me

dont they do experimental on ACT?

I think you should know it’s ATP if you took bio in freshman year.

TBH,the science in the ACT, from what friends consider it, isn’t really true science…it’s more of how well you can use your logic…?Idk

Any predictions for the curve?

So for the math question that had the circle with the equation (X - 1)² + (Y - 2)² = 9 and then there was a line crossing through it with the equation Y = -X + 2 or something like that and it was asking you what the equation of the shaded region was, what was the answer? I put A but I’m not sure. And for the question that gave you a line and it asked you which point would make DE one quarter of the length of the whole line, was the answer B? I’m also not even sure if the question asked you which point on the line would make DE one quarter of EF, or if it was asking which point on the line would make DE one quarter of the whole, because if it was asking for the whole line, then I got it right, and if it was asking for DE and EF, then I got it wrong. And one more on the math, one of the questions was asking how to solve one of the angles of a right triangle and all of the choices are, cos^-1(7/5) tan^-1(7/5) etc and I know the answer for that one was tan^-1 (7/5) but I dont remember if thats the one I put. I just remember putting B. Does anyone remember if B was the correct answer for that one?

Probably bad curve

To the gas pressure thing, if you took chem you might remember pv=nrt. So if temp decreases, then the pressure decreases. I thought about how molecules spread out with higher temps and compress with lower temps.

I dont think i had gas pressure question…

For the well thing, I thin it was whatever color was neutral or had a ph of seven but I can’t remember the context

It was asking the coordinates of D that would make DE 1/4 of the whole (EF).

@Hawkace How do you know it was 100% reflected? I put that its because the sun was most intense because that choice made the most sense

I put less than (<) for both the inequalites

I always that sunlight would be intense more in the morning than the noon…idk

I think it was A for the circle question. A was less than for both right?

@Grouse101 Yes, that’s what I thought. I just took two years of chem so it was pretty obvious to me, but I was confused bc I thought this was a scientific reasoning test rather than a scientific knowledge test. If I didn’t take chem, I’d have no idea

yeah candy54321 that’s what I put too.
