June 2008 Biology E/M

Whoa this exam was easy. Reading the entire Princeton Review book the day before really payed off. xD

was it PR?
i def saw the fruit enzyme question, the pipette question (in one form), and a few others in either PR or official.

does anyone know the curve...or at least can guess it?

meiosis was crossing over.
curve will probably be -3ish for 800... like the practice tests

so the blood sample one:

blood clot=1 (the sickle-cell)

fever=high white blood pressure

low oxygen=1,5 (few red blood cells and sickle-celled one)

i heart PR with all my heart.
they're seriously amazing.
first they got me an awesome act score. then an awesome (predicted) bio score. AND they saved me from utter failure in APs what with my not having real AP bio or AP chem

ALL of these reduce temperate EXCEPT:
I put vigorously excersing
Also did any1 have caffeine as an answer ... that was a complete guess.

hmmm... for the low oxygen question was there an answer choice that said just sample 1, because i forgot about the sickle celled one, so i may have gotten it wrong.

heart rate and blood pressure are definitely raised by caffeine--first person experience.
meth does too, but without the first person experience.... lol
i didn't take Eco so i don't remember the other options. give them and i can get an answer for you

Oh, and three others questions bothered me.

What were the answers to the question about the Nitrogen conversion and the "factor required for sperm" ???

tapeworm - parasite
exercise DOESN'T decrease heart rate..
nitrogen conversion was putting it into atmosphere

i don't remember this sperm question..?

what was the albino plant?
interspecific competition or parasitism?

Paratism - That one was straight (VERBATIM) of the Princeton Review Practice Test 2.

The other options for the caffeine one were:
-Alcohol
-Meth
(and the other two definately were correct)

I don't think I had the caffeine one, was that in ecology?

And just to make sure the one about cooling down was exercise???

What was the blood that was most likely to have a clogged artery? Or something like that? I put the blood with the highest platelet concentration cause from those bayer commercials on tv I always think it is the platelets but the concentration for the platelets were pretty normal...now that I look back at it I think I should have put the sickle cell blood...dang it!!! :(

LOL at the question that asked us if a turtle was a reptile

Cooling down was definitely exercise - I don't think running a marathon is really that relaxing :P

That test was really easy - I'm so glad that I only read PR and not Barron's, because PR had everything.

yea it was exercise.

So how come I didn't have the caffeine question? I took M

the sperm question had some choices like: polar bodies, division of the homolouges, and three more

Wasn't completely sure but I put division of Homologous pair

And also the one about oxygen in the blood, the choices were plasma, plateletes, red blood cell, white blood cell

I put red blood cell (again not completely sure)
