June 2008 Literature

Without discussing specific questions (the last thread got deleted >__>), what did you guys think?

I found it easier (and the passages more enjoyable) than Barron's, but it's hard to say how I did. I omitted one and missed... somewhere between two and twenty...

I loved the last passage. I was like "awww :[[["

My AIM is atemporarysn if anyone wants to talk about the test in real time, and if multiple people want to talk, I'll make a chat.

Much better this time. :)

The embargo is still on: you may discuss your general opinion of the test, but not specifics about it.

Moderator Amistad

that test owned me. i left 20 blank...omg that sucked. what do you think 20 omit and maybe 10 wrong would equate to?

I found a website that says that this is the curve:

"61 to 56 = 800
55 = 790
54 & 53 = 780
52 = 770
51 = 760
50 = 750
49 = 740
48 = 730
47 = 720
46 = 710
45 & 44 = 700
43 = 690
42 = 680
41 = 670
40 = 660
39 = 650"

And yeah, 61 isn't possible, but the rest might be accurate.

^ that happened to me in math... but for lit, I finished the test with 10 minutes left. I feel like I skipped something, but I honestly didn't. I just didn't read the passages before reading the questions first (that was my strategy).

I normally do poorly on Critical Reading, but I genuinely feel like I did well this time.

edit: how many questions were there?? please say 50!! lmao

there were 60 questions static

:| oh my god.

It was fairly easy. I answered all of the questions and guessed on about 8 or so. If the above table is right I scored in the 750-800 range.

wasn't as bad as i thought.. i was actually really surprised that i could tell what the passages were saying (i hope).

i have no idea how i did. I felt like I failed the CB practice test I took, and I got a 770. So.... we'll see!
I liked the last passage too.

I thought it was moderately difficult...but I completely suck at guessing scores. We'll see come June 26th!

I'll be happy with anything above 650

Eh. It was okay. I liked the poem about the oak/lily :)

i hope that i did well

i didn't omit any and i was fairly confident on all but maybe 2

that being said, who knows how many careless mistakes i made... i hope it goes ok - my goal is really only a 700

I didn't think it was too bad.

When's the embargo end? can we talk about questions now?

btw. i'm sorry static :(

that's probably going to be detrimental to your score - but who know, perhaps luck will be on your side! And you can always take it again :D

(ps. i doubt the rest of us who answered all of them didn't do any better)

The embargo will not end until the westernmost testing center (Hawaii) closes, which is around 7pm Eastern US time.

i don't understand why people would want to talk about the questions anyway - there's nothing you can do about it now and knowing you got some wrong will only stress you out. Also, the answers for lit will not even matter come the next text date (as the answers for bio might).

Surprisingly, I found the test pretty simple (the whole passage about identity was pretty good--plus I've read that essay before). The last passage seriously gave me chills! What a well written passage!!

I didn't skip any, but when I realized that, I erased one question. Good luck everyone!

The last passage was well-written, I agree.
