June 2009 ACT Reading Discussion

father: it was something like who came to see the narrator when she got off the train

political changes: it was like why did the astronaut feel so different or something

not from chicago: that was one of the EXCEPT questions. it asked like what wasn’t apparent from the passage or something

i have no idea about the exercise one.

exercise was about the cosmonaut getting out of the capsul.

eel passage: Wonderful West Virginia Magazine - WVDNR;
philosopher: [w w w . p r o s p e c t - m a g a z i n e . c o . u k](<a href=“College of Arts & Sciences | The University of New Mexico”>College of Arts & Sciences | The University of New Mexico)
amazon: http://www.fordfound.org/pdfs/impact/ford_reports_fall_2002.pdf

tbonus, one of your answers is exercise.
will you please remind me of that question

The exercise question was “Why did the cosmonaut fall to his knees after coming out of the capsule?”

It was due to his lack of exercise.

Can someone please tell me if there were a lot of C’s in the passage about the eel.

on the chicago question, what were the other three answers???

^ observing the landscape and being on a train were two of them idr the third

for the one about cosomnaut getting out

I thought it was because of the political changes that had happened because the author of the passage talked about that

that was what the author thought it was, but the question asked for what the media said it was and it was cause of lack of exercise.

R u sure it was for the media???

yes one hundred percent

do you guys think -3 will be a 34 on this one?

I think a -3 will probably be a 34.

hopefully, im expecting -3s in every section and hoping for a 34 composite. Interestingly enough i only miss easy questions and hardly ever miss hard ones…■■■

one answer was, how did the feelings of the girl compare to the cosmonaut… (she was coming home to all this change in her hometown) just as the “cosmonaut was returning to great political changes”

then another question was “why did he collapse after coming out of the ship” because of “lack of exercise”

Ok one last thing, can anyone give me their best guess at what all the answer choices were for the “certified wood” question. Was one of the choices “woods that could survive in the tropical environment?” If anyone could give me all the answer choices, it would b appreciated!

does anyone have the link to the passage about the visiting her hometown?

lol can someone elaborate on the “certified wood” question… plz = D.

yes rtgrove certified wood was the wood that could be used from the amazon and still be efficient

what was the answer to the question about the person who picked up the girl?
Also, the astronaut from russia when he came back, what changed?
The eels passage wuz the gaping holes that the scientists had to learn bout, rite??

what exactly was the gaping holes?

it said something about how scientists still need to figure out more about eels because there are significant holes in the knowledge we have about their life cycle.
