June 2009 ACT Reading Discussion

@hardworker. Yeah dude the freeking reading section is a joke. They should give us at least 75 mins for it. Its bs that the amount of time they give us.

yeah im sorry father was right not journalist
i totally didn’t read the part about the porter and cribbage i guess so i put journalist cause they mentioned something about it

and yeah definitely reflecting on past and present

so do you guyz think this reading was easy or hard or normal for the ACT?

I think it was hard. Its bs that ACT gives us 35 mins to read / answer the questions. I dont get how a guy can get a 36 on this section. Its just bs.

not from chicago
father welcome off train
las vegas gambling
the town has not genuinely progessed
football field fenced
not photographs
tanning salon

reflecting on present

size

bermuda triangle

gloomy tension, fascination
schools need to search for ways to connect
drums? (up for debate)

passion to be constructive or something

balesemi azame
the forest stuff could be worked on else where in the amazon
tuition
spread message to other villagers (hope that the students do this)
use woods that are ok for environment
hard to get customers to buy the guitars
you can make other things using science (might be a repeat answer)

@tbonus. I just had maybe about 89% of what you just put down on the reading test.

tb-

it was butterflies not drums
not sure about progressed…wat was tht 4
also could u elaborate on “environmentally safe”
also I do not agree with your “can b done other places” answer…but I do not remember what I put…

anyone get the main idea thing on the amazon wood passage. I put the answer something about people try to improve the environment, something they live in the forest something like that.

does anyone remember if there were a lot of C’s toward the end!!!?!? Or some at least?!?!

umm lol sry hardworker I have no idea

Yes bmsa91, that’s what I got and I’m quite certain that was the answer

Reflecting on the past and pondering the future was definitely right.

What can I expect if I missed 4-5?

Btw, this is my first post…eva

anyone remember more crap from the eels cause that is what i guessed on the last 4 questions all A/F

bmsa- you remember the other choices to that question ur answer isnt ringin a bell but i may have put tht

I didnt bubble in 5 or 6 questions. I sort of put by ‘letter of the day’ on 2 of them

There were several eel questions which asked about the purpose of various parts of the passage. One was about the part of their journey in the river.

was something like the pressure of deeper water

one question was:
river cycle of life
journey to the ocean
laying eggs or something

there was a question with a choice being like age or something

i don’t think spread message to other villagers (hope that the students do this) was the answer. wasn’t it to become politicians? the ACT has a knack for things that are explicitly stated in the passage.

and what was the one about eels where what was the most important discovery?

Size
To adapt to an environment with less light
Commonly known as
Journey up the river
shallow to deeper water (my guess, not as sure as other answers)
bermuda triangle
