June 2009 ACT Science Discussion

I’m not sure. I put significant deposition for the first two compounds since they seemed to vary a bit, while the second two seemed proportional to the amount of precipitation.

Did we ever decide on the one on which star formed first? A or B?

I put no wet deposition

Mabs-

This was the one question I think I got wrong in the science section. I believe there were only 2 elements that would not b significant. However, I erroneously guessed that all of them would not b significant.

@RT oo i remember that one now

I think at the beginning of the passage it said that they were all deposited by precipitation, so wouldn’t that mean there wouldn’t be significant amounts of any of them?

I agree with Mch but I may be wrong

i put two as being significant and two as not as well, I did it according the the graphs, because i don’t recall reading the passage.

guys for the s vs frequency question, I think that it was no, because s was constant fo r every frequency. because the frequency did not affect s, it was the horizontal value that affected it which i believe was dbs?

dang nevermind i found my mistake.

Mch-

Man I hope your right. However, I was talking to one my friends who is moderately smart after the test and he said that the passage said that only 2 of the elements were put down by rain. He thought the other two were put down by salt or something.

there was another question about elements and rain

yes but nevertheless there is still some there so i was thinking that meant some for two of them and non for the other.

It said that salt in the winter and early spring month increases the amounts of the final two after they are deposited by the rain, if I remember correctly.

I feel like I did okay on the science section. That really makes me worry because usually when I think I did well, I actually did horribly.

if that is true then i got that one wrong, but i didn’t read the passage so i have no idea, i just based it on the graphs

there was some question regarding salt, there were like a couple question with a similar trend about what happens at the low point and the high point or something

Did anyone else say that all 4 elements would not have significant quantities if it stopped raining or was the answer just those 2?

I said all 4

I also said none of the 4 compounds would.

Thats encouraging = D

I said none would be significant. I think this question was designed to mess up the kids who don’t read the passage AT ALL. Luckily I actually looked a liiiittle bit.

Lol that was the one passage that I didnt read AT ALL and I randomly guessed non were significant.
