June 2010: Chemistry

If you judge from the periodic table, it’s in Group 3. Group 3 Metals/Metalloids have charges of +3.

That question made me rage, I had B2O3 too but then I was like wait, BF3 is covalent.

what was the answer to mendeleev?

wasn’t it TT CE?

I could have misread the question tho…

yea but what if i make more careless mistakes?!?!?!?! you never know something couldve happened and i couldve made mistakes somewhere.

im probably taking AP Chemistry next year. should i just cancel and then take the test next june?

I put TTCE but I’m not sure because people are saying Valence and Total electrons. I think it said valence though. Not sure though

I put TF. The second part said that the overall number of electrons was the same, which isn’t true. The first part said that its characteristics is similar to Ge.

You could Cancel. Taking AP Chemistry makes the test A LOT easier. Questions are formatted like the AP Exam’s (except for TTCE questions) and it’s right after the AP test too so that’ll be when you’re most prepared.

Well, that’s 2 wrong for me so far :(

Are you serious? I took AP Chem, and I am convinced I epicly failed. I seriously want to cry right now.

And I can’t cancel because I took 2 other tests today. ■■■

Lol, I had to self study for AP Chemistry out of 3 AP books.

Thanks! im seriously contemplating it. the sad part is that i hired a tutor last month for this task (well my parents did) and he helped a lot. i had been scoring high in practice tests. however, the mixture of the stress of the national examination + it being early morning (im a night owl) caused me to make careless mistakes.

the issue here is this, i could take multiple routes:

1) study over the summer (5 months) and take it in october. i would have to interrupt my normal summerl SAT studying in order to do this, and as a result both scores might be affected. the plus side is that i would get it over with.

2) Take AP chemistry next year and the SAT in chem after that.

 • I would have to take both Math IIc in one testing (June) or take the SAT chemistry in june and study over the summer for IIc

3) Keep the score and hope i can get into college with probable 600’s.

what should i do?

In compounds of iron (where known), the most common oxidation numbers of iron are: 3, and 2.

^ See? Iron has 2!

you don’t have to submit your score even though you took the test. And I’m sure you didn’t fail- just wait it out and see what you got:)

^ just take ap chem first.
i dont think the other options are good ideas at all.

mendeleev i’m pretty sure was T,T,CE, it said periodic trends, im pretty sure it had no mention of electrons. idk.

I would say… maybe study Math IIC over the summer. I took the November test it was really easy, I got 800. So I would say take AP Chem, take SAT next June, and instead of enjoying your summer like everyone else, study for math IIC maybe 2 days a week. That’s what I did. Just basically review practice tests and do them over and over again.

It’s what it takes to get into college these days :P

Iron is a chemical element with the symbol Fe (Latin: ferrum) and atomic number 26. It is a metal in the first transition series. Like other group 8 elements, it exists in a wide range of oxidation states.

“It’s what it takes to get into college these days :P”

I know what you mean. So sad ):

Ha  Definitely. I haven’t had a normal relaxing summer since the 6th grade. I’m a Senior. ■■■

It just said electrons, not valence
