<p>goldysock: I don’t think we can get a definitive answer on that. I personally disagree with the choice on the list. I think it was the “compromise” one. No one knows this one for sure.</p>
<p>Because the sentence suggested she was guilty, thus she would not have an alibi.
-Horse: it didn’t describe her father, it described how she felt about him.
-Talent: asked about the circular logic; it had talent—>practice—>talent.</p>
<p>@TASser: Provisional is 100% the right word in this case. It means “tentative, or open to experimental checking, but does not assert certainty”. Empirical means something completely different in this case, meaning derived from experiment. The key phrase in the sentence is “it cannot be proven”. In an empirical experiment, of course it can be proven. Not so in provisional. Also, yes I am pretty certain that the answer is “The dichotomy is hard to resolve with experiments”, not reconciled.</p>
