***June 2010 Math I Thread***

Hey I refuse to omit any questions so I spent all of my time on the first 35 questions, then answered B for the last 15, does anyone who did well remember if there were a lot of Bs at the end? It could make or break my score, thanks

There had to be some B’s. If you guess for every 5 you guess you should get one right. So for the 15 you guessed you might of got 3 correct, which would of earned you 3 raw points. You would of lost 3.25 points from the wrong answers. This is of course depends. You might of got lucky and answered more than 3 answers right. However on the other hand you might of also answered less than 3 right.

For the profit one, can someone tell me what I did wrong

So I assumed there were 10 Shirt As each costing $1
And 20 Shirt Bs each costing $1

So that’s 30 shirts total. It wants a %15 percent profit. .15*30 = 4.5

So if shirt B makes 10% profit and there are 20 shirts Bs, 20*.1 = 2 dollars profit

That means 4.5-2 = 2.5 profit must be made with shirt A

To make $2.5 profit with 10 shirts, you need 2.5/10 = 25% profit for shirt A

I understand how scoring works, but I want to know specifically from people who think they did really well if they remember putting a lot of Bs in the last 15 questions.

does anyone know if the answer to the coordinate one was (9,5) or (10,5)? I guessed (9,5) but im not sure.

metsrule50 I took the test, but I’m not sure if I remember which question you’re talking about. Could you explain a little more?

does anyone remember the plane geometry questions?

the math 2 was such a breeze but i missed a few plane geometry questions, did not even have a chance to check them, i will feel less miserable if i am not the only one who feels this way

it was one where they gave you two different points and asked you for the third. They gave you coordinates for two points and wanted you to figure out the third. There was a triangle sitting on top of a quadrilateral. I think the answer was either (10,5) or (9,5).

So does anyone remember if there were a lot of B’s at the end? Anyone? I kind of need to know, I put B for the last 15 questions.

i guessed 9,5 because if it was 10 there would have been a much larger space between than the scale…but it said the figure is not to scale…soo ehh idk

im prety sure it was a=e because they were the ones on the right side next to their lines…and touching the transversal too

i haven’t taken the math 1 sats yet but i heard that they are almost the same as the math section of the reasoning test and what is considered a respectable score

arggg the last question (about the cone)
did they ask about the ratio of the small cone to the large cone
or of the small cone to the rest of the shape
:open_mouth: oh my god :O

The coordinate problem was essentially a midpoint problem, if I remember correctly. You had to project the top vertex based on the segment between the vertex at (0,0) and the midpoint at (6,5). The top vertex would be (12,10). Then, you had to find the midpoint of the segment between (12,10), which we just found, and either (6, 0) or (8,0)–I don’t remember which one, haha, but it was marked for you. But the answer would be either (9,5) or (10,5) respectively, using the midpoint formula and depending on what that third vertex actually was. If you remember what the third vertex was, please supplement.

Does anyone remember the answer to the one where it was 3357?6d or something and you had to find d so that the number would be a multiple of 11. I guess and checked multiplying all the answers with the number and then divided the number by 11 but none of them worked. How would you do it then and what was the answer?

^ I believe it was 6. It was choice e I know for sure though. It actually worked very easily when you punched it all in on the calculator. You may have typed it in wrong.

yeah it was E

There was a question with a right triangle that talked about triangle ABC with angle C being 90 degrees and then asking the ratio of BC to AB or AB to BC or something.

I put 1/4 for this, is this right? Does anyone remember what I’m talking about at all?
