I may take this test in June. However, if I chose not to, when will it be offered again? I know that the SATs aren’t offered again until sometime in the fall - starting around October. Are SAT IIs offered at the SAT in October or not until November? That may help be decide whether I should wait or not…

Also, can I use the math review section from an SAT book? In other words, is the math tested in the SAT similar to the math tested in the Math II?

This will be my first time taking the Math II SAT Subject Test, so I am a little ignorant on the testing policies and information. Is it true that you may miss a few and still make an 800? Also, I am currently studying for it (and the Physics and Spanish) using the Sparknotes preparation books. They seem to be really good, informative, and helpful with so many practice tests. Any suggestions on what else I can do to prepare?

What I’m doing is practice test, review all the information on things I missed, and repeat… the thing is, after that diagnostic I have to go through a huge chunk of this Barron’s Book -_- And it’s taking forever haha

can someone link me to the sparknotes practice tests? I cant seem to find them anymore

Here’s the link…Hope it works

[SparkNotes: SAT Subject Test: Math Level 2: Practice Tests Are Your Best Friends](<a href=“SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides”>SparkNotes: Today's Most Popular Study Guides)

For all that have experienced Barron’s, do you think that the Conic Sections Review is a bit unclear? I couldn’t even learn parametric equations from Barron’s, I had to use another book -_-

What are the default settings for window in Polar mode? I tried to graph “r=2” and all I get is like a tiny dot?

btangbang sorry - I posted the wrong link…Here’s the right one:

How much of matrices do I need to know for the test? I know how to:
-Add/Subtract same size Matrices
-Multiply Matrices (but prefer calculator)
-Use a calculator to find the determinant of a square matrix

Anything else I need to arm myself with?

which review books do you guys recommend? barrons seems to be pretty popular but i normally use princeton review.

also, i haven’t started studying yet :S is this test reasonable enough that i can cram for it in 3 weeks? i’m shooting for a 750 but i abhor math…

Recommended prep book + any online supplements?

I have Barron’s right now… and some of the more complicated concepts are just really badly explained. But I think the preparation it gives is really good, so grab Barron’s and use Sparknote’s online guide to learn everything that Barron’s just CAN’T TEACH And it isn’t so bad to cram like I am now :D

@youwrotethis, i think to be safe, you should learn the inverse of matrices, it was a practice problem that i’ve seen before.

as for prep books im using baarons + PR and then taking sparknotes tests.

I just took the first practice test in Barron’s… and holy crap it decimated me. I got a 650 on the diagnostic, and this time around (after learning everything) I got a 660 >> I skipped 18 questions and got 2 wrong oO Is there even hope for me on a 800?

Don’t fret over low scores on Barron’s, guys. I have read on a ton of threads were people complain about getting 600s to 700s on Barron’s tests. From what a lot of people seem to say here, if you get at least a 730 in Barron’s, you should be able to get an 800 on the real thing. Heck, I’ve heard people with 600s on Barron’s ended up with 800s on the real thing…

So after I went through the PR for Math I/II, I took a practice test for Level II and got around a 760. I skipped maybe 8 because of time and got a few wrong (mostly me reading too fast P:). Is the PR’s curve accurate or is it generally more/less lenient than the actual test in June? I’m aiming for an 800, so I’m going to keep studying. I was thinking of using Barrons, but like Malfunction said, I heard it’s waaay harder than the actual thing…

Reading the posts on this thread made me realize that PR doesn’t cover everything, because I don’t remember how to do matrix inverses at all XD (or maybe I skipped that part, huh).

I don’t think Matrix Inverses will be on the test, because it’s not even on Sparknotes, which doesn’t have this much excess material… my plan now is to survive the infamous 6 trials of Barron’s and then just do the 5 on Sparknotes (hopefully I’ll get close to 800)

Does anyone have a link for the website that sells graphing calculators with SAT II Math 2 programs preinstalled? I believe I’ve seen it on here before…

ha, im feeling screwed. haven’t even started studying and don’t know how to use a graphing calculator.
