590 reading 640 math 620 reading essay 8 =[ i thought i did so much better, easily breaking 700 in the math… i skipped only 1 question on the math portion… i must have gotten a lot more wrong than i originally thought :[. i already bought 2 more practice books because i’ve already finished all 10 practice tests in the college board test prep book. hopefully it will help raise my score to what i want…

You’ve rushed through them. Go back and re-do them, understand what you missed AND which ones you got right and why.

i took them through a test prep course in my school and on all of them i looked on the collegeboard answer explanation to see where i made a mistake and why

March: 2170
670 R
800 M
700 W

June: 2280
680 R
800 M
800 W (80 MC, 9 essay)

I get the feeling that the reading just isn’t meant to be. I wanted 700+ in everything, but I’m happy with the writing increase. Good enough for me!

^ 'Grats on getting an 800 M twice :p

JUNE SAT results
CR: 730
M: 780
W: 800 (76MC, 12 Essay)

Total: 2310

This was my first time taking the SAT and incidentally, I’m an international student. It’s not exactly the score I was hoping for…
Even though i told myself that I’d be happy with a 2300+ , I’m not satisfied with that 780 in maths (should be 800!!!) … or that 730 in CR!!! GRAH.

Should I retake it sometime later in the year? I’m applying to like Brown, Yale, Princeton etc.

^ Unless you can do significantly better, I wouldn’t advise it. Your scores in each section are competitive for each of your schools.

how’d u study to get tht… and is it ur 1st time???

Were you talking to me?

If so, yeah, as I stipulated, it was my first time taking the SAT Reasoning Test.

To study, I really just bought the Official Sat Study Guide and worked my way through it … unfortunately, I only remembered to do this 2 weeks before I was scheduled to take the test so I didn’t have all that much time to prepare … but my scores weren’t that bad so I guess I should be happy. :)

January SAT
CR 750
M 720
W 790 (MC 78, E 10)

June SAT
CR 700
M 800
W 800 (79 MC, 11 E)

I knew I messed up on the reading section (hate that vocab), but I thought my essay was pretty bad this time. Guess not! I met my goal of in the 2300s! 2350 superscore This test barely seems standardized for me though; I didn’t even change anything/prepare between the 1st and 2nd time.

October SAT
CR 760
M 700
W 790

June SAT
CR 800
M 800
W 800

I wasn’t expecting this at all. I AM ECSTATIC.
Also, where do you go to check how many MC you got right/essay score for the writing section? I’m on the page where you check your scores and it won’t let me click on “Understand Your Test Performance”

^Congrats!

@Marj

Go to your my organizer and there should be a little red bell that says your scores are in. Click on that.

Oh, and congratulations!

i worked through gruber’s and got a 1780 total … i dunno if i should re-do it tho

congrats, marjerina! you’re a genius :)

i’m happy with my mark, since it’s over 2000 and i had no practice and no tutoring or lessons at all haha i just bought a barron’s book, and the official book from college board and read a bit of that

i’m a junior right now, and i’ll definitely work hard in the summer for september’s test!!

btw: does anyone know which SAT IIs are the easiest? I know they are all pretty challenging, but are there any particular ones that are more straightforward? I’m trying to decide which SAT IIs I should take. Thanks a bunch!

hahaha I can’t believe all the people in this thread complaining about their 780 or 790-that is ridiculous! Some people would do anything for a mark that high. Let’s not BRAG about result here, people, because different people have different goals. I’m happy with my over 2000 for my first time, that is all.

Life is too short to stress so much over the SATs. If you are a truly intelligent individual with a great personality, you will thrive wherever you go :)

No one is bragging.

@fledgling – Do you mind sending me a pm with your new strategy for CR? I’m desperate. :)

January 2010

CR 640
M 740
W 710 (essay 11), mc 68

June 2010

CR 740
M 800
W 720 (essay 12), mc 65

2090 -> 2260

not bad!

i hate mc section of writing!!
i really dont think it tests my writing skills.
im more of a creative/stylish writer…
too mechanical/technical for my taste!
i probably suck at grammar because i came to america in 5th grade, though.

anyways, i am taking my 3rd one on october to raise my writing score!

i wish you guys luck~

How do people do so well on the essay? I got a 730 writing (76 mc, 8 essay) but I was hoping for a lot higher because I thought my essay was much better. I wrote four paragraphs, added a lot of supporting details, put in a proper conclusion. The only thing I can think is that my thesis statement wasn’t strong enough, but I don’t think that alone can drop it to an eight. Last time I got a nine, and I thought my essay was much worse.

Overall scores: 740 cr, 650 m, 730 w bringing it to a 2120. I’m happy to break the 2100 mark, but I was hoping math and writing would be significantly higher. My math is the same as it was when I took it last time, which is really annoying. But not surprising, math is not my strong point.
