June 2010: US History

I thought South wanted industry and northern investment…@number 72.

Edit: So it was the Townshend Acts? If it was, then I’m sure it was passed for because they needed money.

Do we have this question down??
The one was like–Why did england do the sugar act of 176X
one answer was like they wanted to ban rum in the U.s
another was like they wanted to sure up what was coming to u.s ports

CONFIRMZ ME QTZ

goldenrule shut the heck up before you get dented by all the others who are worrying about trying to even get a 700 ok? so **** before bloody mary comes out of your mirror this night.

It wasn’t either of those options. They did not want the colonists to stop consuming rum or to regulate commerce. The answer was A.

Once again. Townshend Duties. [Townshend Acts - Wikipedia, the free encyclopedia](Townshend Acts - Wikipedia).

^Yea, what kaitanuva said. The colonists were angry, not b/c they were being taxed, but because of the concept. The passage didn’t explicitly address no taxation w/o rep. but I think that was the best choice. The question was along the lines of “According to this passage, why were the colonists angry?”

dannggg i dont remember. but i put that church one!!!

First question was Puritan’s belief of City on a Hill.
Answer I think was model for others.

what was the stamp act question

what would 2 blank, 6 wrong yield?

I think that’s the main issue here. Was the question:
1.Asking for the sole purpose of of the tax (in Parliament’s mind)?
If so, then the answer is raising revenue, because if it was indeed talking about the Townsend Acts, then Charles Townsend, the creator, made it for the sole purpose of making money.

or
2. Or why were the colonists angry?
In this case representation would be the better answer.

thanks for that bloodymary, much appreciated.

so what exactly did choice A say? that Britain needed money? Was something similar to “show of power, control” a choice? I may have put that, but I guess that was wrong.

oops, never mind. thinking of the wrong question. i didn’t realize we were still discussing the passage

“2. Or why were the colonists angry?”
This was the question. What made the question difficult, though, was that “taxation without representation” wasn’t really the focus of the passage; I still chose that one because I didn’t think any others fit well either.

Please address the south question…i swear they wanted northern investment? not self-reliance…?

I explicitly remember it asking about why the colonists were angry, b/c i reread the question after originally putting the revenues answer choice down.

sabbie: i remember afl to be skilled only too

Black’s Law, what was the question again?

The south wanted to become industrialized, so northern investment is true.

That’s the point. Explicitly mentioning taxation w/o representation in the passage would have made it too easy.

New South wanted the South to industrialize. So whatever answer with industries is the best answer.
