June 2010: US History

Most people did not own slaves. The correct answer to this question (which is on the list) was that there was a large increase in slaves during this time.

The question addressed the Red Scare after World War I; therefore, the correct answer was the one which described the Palmer Raids (police raids with the justice department, or something along those lines).

In regards to that first question I’m pretty sure it said which is NOT true…

I don’t think so. Can anyone else confirm either way?

It was which is true. (slavery quesiton)

I just looked at the 2005 list and there’s was which is not true with the correct answer being most people owned slAves…

But maybe I just misread the test… Oh well

If I missed 2 and skipped 2, what would that probably be?

This is from an [old thread](General Curves - SAT Subject Test Preparation - College Confidential Forums), but it’s still fairly accurate. It should help people get a range of where there scores might be. It doesn’t include the Literature test

That’s an 800.

Do we have the cartoon question with George HW Bush and a poor American man? The answer was about George HW Bush focusing on foreign issues and neglecting domestic problems.

Also, the question about an unique American art style…

Abstract expressionism was an American post-World War II art movement. It was the first specifically American movement to achieve worldwide influence and put New York City at the center of the western art world, a role formerly filled by Paris.

-from wikipedia. I chose abstract expressionism instead of jazz.

Do you remember what the question asked for specifically? I think it asked which one was recognized first as an original American art…which would be jazz.

^Ah, I think you’re right. It would be jazz.

Hmm, any idea if -9 will be an 800? I hope so :)

For the question about the Berlin Airlift…are we all sure it was on the Berlin Airlift? Because i thought it was about the Berlin Wall…I picked the answer that had to do with elections in Eastern Europe or something like that…?

Probably. :)

I think the term used on the test was “Berklin Blockade.” The answer on the consolidated list is still correct, though.

^Yeah, the term used on the test question was Berlin Blockade.

Hmm, was this test relatively easier or harder than past tests? I’m wondering whether -10 (78 raw) has any chance of being an 800.

Yeah, it was Blockade but was that one of the options? I can’t remember all of them, does anybody?

what score would 17 wrong and 1 omit get? any chance of being above 750… :/

Regarding the jazz/abstract expressionism one, I believe the question also mentioned the early 20th century. Abstract expressionism wasn’t popularized until Jackson Pollock in the early 1940s.

for the skilled v. unskilled (and for whoever posted the quotation from their book) –

the question listed the AFL as unskilled and the KoL as skilled

NEW QUESTION::

wasn’t there a question about jackson pollock on the test?? (he was a choice, i think)
