June 2010: US History

va/new eng one is ppl in new eng live longer…
“because of a better diet”
sparknotes said, in bold

i thought crane was about like american pride or whatever it was. cuz didn’t crane write tje red badge of courage which talks about the american rev?

Menlo Park was the first industrial research lab
and http://www.answers.com/topic/theodore-dreiser</a> read the last sentence

i’m pretty sure crane + dreiser were something about the economic/social problems, becuase i know that dreiser wrote about the poor (in how the other side lives)

Crane and Dresier were social problems on the streets

Yeah I put investments in industry for Hamilton… but idk if that’s right?

I put something about government investment in manufacturing for Hamilton? The wording of the answer was so weird, it made it sound almost socialist

are you sure the homestead was about “free men, free land…” because the homestead didn’t guarantee no slavery, right? for the oddest reason - i put the speculators.

also, i think the people who pop sov whatever was northern whigs, right?

ohh difference between afl and knights of labor was it?? something like that…

i put that they wanted the entire cdapitalism to change

i put the speculators for the homestead act, and democrats for the pop sov one because of stephen douglas and i put the capitalism for the AFL too

what about the first war when America gained international land?
constitution was based off of voltaire?
women in the 1890s worked mainly in…i put textiles

i put repay debts in the hamilton one
the others were very unlikely coz hamilton’s era didn’t concern anything about national investment to industry…

really? i said something about economics, not politics. is that rihgt??

For AFL and Knights of labor I put economics/politics

eng 1100, i don’t think so cuz the knights of labor people wudnt care too much about politics, all they want is $$ as well

I thought this was much harder than the APUSH multiple choice. Hopefully we’ll have a nice curve. Does anyone know past years’ curves?

Hamilton very much so wanted investment in American industry.

Difference bewteen AFL and KoL was economics, not politics.

for the crane and dreiser question, was the answer something along the lines of wrote directly on problems blablabla? i know you guys are saying social problems but I forgot if that was the same choice as the one that began with “wrote directly/frankly on…”

Well I remember that Knights of Labor was very idealistic and they wanted to reform society… so that’s why I thought they were into political stuff… and the AFL concentrated mainly on realistic econoimc goals.

Idk i could be wrong though.

popular sovereignty is douglass’s idea and he’s a dem…
the whigs were faded when the pop sov was on the table
instead they form north rep (lincoln)
so i guess i’m going with the south dem

I put that the Hamilton one was lower taxes…I know he favored industrialization and higher tariffs, so that along with lower taxes would cause domestic growth?

Were women mainly in the garment and textile industries, or were they mostly married?

What was SC’s main export by the beginning of the 1700s?
