June 2010 Writing

What about the one with the emperor of China and how he liked drama or something. He built schools for children?

It’s all good ugaboga, 3 wrong with a 12 essay may very well be an 800.

I thought that one was no error. It is supposedly any types (should be any other types).

Oh really? I got a 660 last time, so 740 or above would be amazing. I finished the 2 pages, had 3 solid examples, so I think im good there. Thanks.

The art critic question with “That” was No Error. The Chinese drama thing was like “all types” or something.

I’m pretty sure I had only one No Error, but I don’t remember which one. I’m pretty sure I put No Error for the art critic one.

What would you get with -0 MC and a 6 essay? I SUCK at timed writings. In January, I got a 2 because I completely spaced out during the essay. :(

@Malcontent, 700.

Let’s make an MC/essay matrix prediction.
Template:

(MC, Essay)

(49,12)= , (49,11)= , (49,10)= , (49,9)= , (49,8)=
(48,12)= , (48,11)= , (48,10)= , (48,9)= , (48,8)=
(47,12)= , (47,11)= , (47,10)= , (47,9)= , (47,8)=

^Like a 750-760. I agree that the essay topic sucks. I didn’t do very hot on writing this time. At least I have an 800 W from January to add to my superscore.

Wait, I don’t understand how does essay effect your score? Is it 1/3 of score? How is it factored in?

Wasn’t the “That the…” question vigorously? How does vigorously describe a way that something is critiqued?

the essay is 240 points

How is intent about no error? Its improper idiom, you would normally use intent on.

(MC, Essay)

(49,12)=800 , (49,11)=800, (49,10)=800 , (49,9)=780 , (49,8)= 770
(48,12)=800 , (48,11)=800, (48,10)=770 , (48,9)=760 , (48,8)= 740
(47,12)=800 , (47,11)=780 , (47,10)=750 , (47,9)=730 , (47,8)= 710

Ethereality, how sure are you that “intent about” is correct? I’m almost certain it should’ve been “intent on”. I can’t find anything on the Interwebs about it, so I’m kind of nervous now. :3

This isn’t a very reliable OR informative source, but it’s the only kind of proof I can find saying that “intent about” isn’t right…:
<a href=“Intend to - definition of intend to by The Free Dictionary”>Intend to</a&gt - definition of intend to</a&gt by The Free Dictionary;
<a href=“Intend about - definition of intend about by The Free Dictionary”>Intend about</a></p&gt - definition of intend about</a></p&gt by The Free Dictionary;

^ that’s what I was put on the test… hoping it’s right so I can get 49 raw.

Okay, every word does not necessarily have one correct idiomatic extension. You can say:

I am intent TO do this.
I am intent ON doing this.
I am intent ABOUT doing this.

Edit: *expression

Intent about worked in that scenario.

The question with the politician who was going to be a doctor but then got injured in a war - wasn’t that a no error?

yes it was choice A.

lol, wrong thread. :)

Is there any hope for this writing curve to be in the red area?

This writing section seemed harder than usual. There are a few controversial questions…
