June 2012 World History SAT II

1 was military professionals, I took the SAT World History test as a sophomore and got a 790. Mangal Pandey was a military officer who initially supported the call for Indian freedom, I saw a movie about him.

^ I thought parts of India were still “free”, like the Mughal Empire, right?

Predictions?

Imma say 710. This along with lit were my first sat/sat II’s. I took it for the sake of taking it. My prep included an AP European history course and a little studying that focused on the material for my Global Regents (New York State Test)

but the french and bolsheviks did spread their ideas.

I can’t believe it. Just looked at my score: an 800! I’m ecstatic! My school doesn’t offer an honors or AP world history course so I really had to self-prep for this test. Still not sure which I got wrong. thingschange: I think you’re right, the answer was probably that the french and bolsheviks spread their ideas but that wasn’t my answer. Leo2400, i put military professionals for that answer too but I think British educated professionals was probably the right answer. Since i posted the list of questions here, i’ve looked at a bunch of SAT & AP world history books to confirm the answers i was unsure of, and at least for these two, I’m sure now that I answered incorrectly on the test.

@storyweaver How did you check your score? The SAT website is down for maintenance and the link they gave to check scores online doesn’t work.

^ It was available earlier. You could have checked from 5-8AM, I believe.

Eh… Not true… I’ve been trying And it just started working now. 800 can’t believe it!

No. Oh, god no. I got a 690.

I never got my scores…? I’m so confused why I didn’t. It just says that you can’t view them currently.

The site is having some technical difficulties due to the number of people waking up and checking.

It wasn’t working for me when I woke up at around 10 am, then it worked at around 11:30 am, now it’s not working again.

But I got an 800 in US and in World! So elated.

@Sabra: If you’d like, you can check the Subject Test or SAT results threads. People were getting results from 5AM to around 8AM. I personally got my scores around 7:55AM.

oh okay. Congratulations! That’s awesome!

Does anyone know how many questions you can miss to get atleast a 700?

To those who got an 800, how did you prepare? Did you study Barron’s thoroughly?

Did anyone who got an 800 here self-study? If so, what books did you use? I took an honors European History Course this year and have some basic world history from earlier on but i was wondering if a perfect or near-perfect score is achievable through self-study.

I got an 800 without a world history teacher. Just get Kaplan’s. It has a concise review which is easy to read.

What’s the difference between Barron’s SAT world hist and AP world? I studied with the AP book solely. Will have to retake so buying kaplan and crash course. Will i need the barron’s sat? or is the ap book enough?

Yes. Here’s what I used:

5 Steps to a 5 (AP World)
Princeton Review book for World and US History SAT II’s (not as in-depth)

I also took AP European History a little over a year ago, and I just took AP US History, so I would guess these classes helped.

If I did this again, I probably would buy a Barron’s book- my Barron’s book for US History was wonderful.

Still haven’t seen my scores. The website still isn’t working…Come on Collegeboard!! I’m so anxious
