***JUNE 2015 ACT DISCUSSION THREAD***

@medicsz

Reviewing incorrect answers is important because:

  1. It allows you to identify trends in errors.
  2. Focuses the student on learning concepts that they do not know, and not wasting time on what they have already mastered.
  3. Decreasing the number of errors over time, can be very motivating as the student see the scaled score rises with less errors.

Will this ACT have the new double passages in the reading section?

does anyone know if the June act is usually pretty easy

@mithuun15 No. All the ACT tests are about the same difficulty.

i fellt that the october was way easier than april. i went in blind for october and got a 27. April i studied my ass off and got a 25.

Would anyone recommend the Princeton Review Elite 36?

@mithuun15 There’s no way to predict the difficulty, but nevertheless I thought last year’s June test was pretty hard (math and reading sections, primarily)

Math was bad because I was being a moron that day but reading… omg it felt like an AP exam on the first passage. And I’m pretty sure that’s when they started using the dual passage

someone help please ive been practicing for a month strait and i see no improvement. im getting high 20’s for english. what do i need to do to push it to 32-33. Also i go strait to the questions for the science and have been practicing with the strategy but im still getting a 25. Im losing my mind

@mithuun15 you should buy a good prep book. Barron’s 36 is great for English.

@Jaga98 I just got mine this week but I skimmed it and it seems good. It goes in depth on things I feel Barron’s ACT 36 assumes you already know. You don’t really need all of the information but it’s good to keep in mind going into the test.

If anyone needs ACT released tests (not practice ones!), I complied some recent ones from ■■■■■■■■.com into a zip file: http://www.mediafire.com/?fqcaeda22zbry1n

Good luck everyone!

Friday is the last day to register for the June 13 ACT test w/out paying a late fee. Register here today: http://actstudent.org

Back for another ACT test, unfortunately. I got a 28 (34E, 34W, 26S, 19M) in Feburuary. I’m obviously working more on the math section - any advice, guys? I’m terrible at math.

Does anybody have any advice for how I should go about studying, using both the Real ACT Prep book + Barron 36?
Like what sections each day… etc. Cause I don’t want to read 1 entire book and then move to the rest >_> I feel like I’ll forget things easily

Im deciding between the June and the September. One isnt harder/easier than the other right? my act score decreased three points and i want to bring to bring it back up this time

I’d recommend the June test because I feel as if we are at our highest potential in June, having covered an entire school year worth of course material, but if you’re going to study over the summer, then you could probably do just as well on the ACT in September.

June will be my 3rd (and last) time time taking the test. I got a 28 on the October test, a 30 on the March test (state testing), and now I’m hoping for a 32 on my final try.

Should I take the ACT? I’ve taken PSAT twice and SAT twice, my most recent sat score is 2150, math 740, Critical reading 710, Writing 700 essay 9. I have the SAT blue book and I have taken 2 practice exams total. I excel in mathematics and science and a bit less in reading and writing. Based on my history with the SAT format, my scores, and my abilities, should I take the ACT? Please explain you’re thoughts, much appreciated.

Is the math section REALLY hard?

@Kylemcgrogan most of my friends who took the PSAT and did well on it got 33+ on the state wide ACT. Im assuming thats because by studying for the critical reading and the vocab of PSAT, ur kinda studying for ACT english and reading section. I dont see how it can hurt to take the ACT so i’d say go for it
