Just finished taking the state mandated act and am now finished with registering for the June one. This will probably be my last test regardless of score. Anyone else out there taking it before summer?

I will be taking the test in June as well! Im pretty nervous, because I do great on every section exept the math one. But I still have some time to practice! English isn’t my first language either, as I am an international student, so I still have trouble with some of the terminology on the test.
Since my state mandated test scores won’t be back until after the price increase, I might as well go ahead and register. I planned on doing it anyway though; hopefully I can get some really good quality studying in after Memorial Day/end of school. My English teacher swears this test is always the easiest, but she’s basically an idiot so I don’t know how accurate that is. I don’t really believe they specifically make one test for a specific date easier than others.
I heard September is “easier” too, but no one knows for certain. I guess some people have had easier questions which led to better scores. But I’m sure the difficulty of the test is usually balance between all dates. I might take the act one more time in September just to see how i would do senior year, but this will probably be my last one.
Yeah I took the one on 4/9, just to see where I was (I didn’t even take writing). I actually registered for the June test before the April test. I got a 31 in April and my final goal is to get a 33. If I get that in June, I’ll stop testing. Next month ACT is also releasing a new prep book with new tests and I hope to finish those before the June date.
Do you guys think it’s possible to raise my ACT score from a 28 to a 32 with the little time left for the test in June? I actually did study a little bit for the previous ACT, so I don’t know how that will affect my improvement for the test.
@luigi66 Definitely man. Just keep practicing and understand what you get wrong so you can fix it for the future. I was a 25 on my practice, studied and got a 31C on the February test. Now hoping for a 32C on the April one.
I’m taking the ACT for the second time in June. I took it in October and did really well on Reading and English, but bombed math :(. I’ve been prepping for the past 3 months and my composite is already up 4 points I’m trying to get my score high enough to qualify for the honors program at the college I’m planning on going to.
@lordofflies10 Hello,
The only genuine material you could use to prep for the ACT is material from the official guide: it would be futile to predict your score based off unofficial practise tests. And, ■■■■■■■■.com has about 35 OFFICIALLY administered practise tests. Do ALL or most of them if you have the time. For science,
Do the science section without timing yourself. Check how much you get. If you score significantly higher than when you time yourself, your only problem is the timing. To improve, keep practising. The better you get acquainted with test material, the better will you perform.
If timing isn’t your problem (which it very often is), you’re most probably misreading the question, or your graph interpretation skills are weak. Keep drilling, and try doing the easiest passages first: for example, I was very strong on the physics passages, and would always do them first.
Hope this helps!

Boy am I nervous to take this test. Last year I was actually pretty prepared by this time and scored well but I don’t think I’ll do too well this time. Still have a lot more prep to go haha (gonna try to get a 35-36).
I hope this is my last time doing testing…I took old SAT twice and this will be my first (and hopefully last) time doing ACT. My science scores are terrible :((
I need to get my score from a 25 to a 30+… I’ll be taking it again in September but I’m reaaaallllyyy hoping I can bring mine up to at least a 28-29 or something for this June test… Not even sure if that’s possible, but I’ve got my fingers crossed. My worst enemies are time and anxiety!!
I’m going to take it probably next month and then again in September. This will be my first ACT test actually, so the nerves are really strong. I took my first practice test last month and got a 23, math being my lowest subscore. All the other subjects had virtually the same score. I haven’t taken a practice test since then, but I study usually every day or every other day, so I’m excited to take another practice test, probably sometime this week. I’m really shooting to raise my score at least 5 points? 7 would be amazing. We’ll see though.
I know I have about a month left, but I’m really beating myself down. I’ve never felt as stupid as I do studying for this test though.
Prepscholar articles have been an actual life saver.
I feel like I’m studying all the wrong material and I feel like I’m not retaining anything, so I’m stressing.
So, I’ve been taking a lot of practice tests lately. I score around a 35/36 in English and reading and around a 34 in science. The one score I’m really dissapointed with is my math score. I just can’t score higher than a 32… Anyone has any tips on how to inprove my math score?
