ive been doing barrons.. last time wen i gav the test i just did CB AND PR.. i got a 2040(640 CR,710W,690M). hoping ot go atleast 2100+ this time...

I did two tests... one was 1600 and one was 2100... pretty big difference huh...
Oh.. right, both of them are out of 2400

murasaki- how do you do so well on the CR? 770. Is it because you read a lot?

I only read what school forces me too . . . I go to a somewhere between perfect and mediocre public school, but the academics are pretty rigorous.

I don't think it's cause I read a lot, cause I don't read that much, it's probably because I have a natural thing for it. But I think my ability anyone can have--it's just a matter of decoding the questions and deciding which can be justified by the text. If it can be justified by the text, it is the correct answer--that's a great rule of thumb for passages.

Of the 67 CR questions, I think the 3 I missed were words, though.

For the text, I usually ask myself in my head "Would I have a legitimate argument based on the text if I told the CB dudes that this was the right answer? Both of these look pretty good . . . but this one isn't really alluded to much in the text . . . so I guess it's this one." (At this point, I pick the answer and 19/20 times, it's the correct one.)

I read the line references, with a little bit of text before and after, and after I do all the line reference I go to main idea questions. Some I find easy and some are just a bit harder to justify. With practice, you should have 2 to 3 minutes at the end of each section. I recommend circling the ones you're not sure about so you can go back and revisit them.

Frantically trying to cram vocab into my mind right now, amidst the chaos of the impending finals.. which probably won't even help me at all... I should be doing practice tests from the blue book, really...

From January, I need to..
CR: 630 --> 700+
M: 800--> .. 800 ... at least not to get too low
W: 720--> 750+

Only 1 week left! Yikes

Expecting
Math:
750 in april ---->800 June
Critical Reading:
650 in april----->730-740 June
Writing:
700 in april----->770-800 June

How can one prepare for the essays?
I know you're supposed to practice writing prompts, but there isn't really a good way of grading them yourself...

ask your teacher...that's what i do

i'm taking the test after very minimal studying...studied by butt off for april one. it's gona be awesome, i'll be so chill.

I started actual studying today. Not expecting anything.

Nervous again... if my May SAT score is good.. i'll just chill out

You know, there is a thread here somewhere where kids are saying that they didn't study at all and got decent/great scores. I don't believe them,but, everything is possible.

everybody can do it! i belive in you guyz!
we are all heading to Columbia! lol

They're smart, this is CC.

After my 2 years at CC, I've long since learned not to take the advice of anyone who says, "OMG that test was easy, I didn't study and I got 800!!!"

Because, obviously, I'm not as smart as them.

oasis-hear hear! i completely agree! everyone on this board is unbelievably smart...

ony five days away... am i ready?

i've been reviewing math out my ears - got a 650 in april, which is extremely frustrating because i've always been very advanced in math!

any tips for a "too-advanced" math student to simmer the knowledge down a bit for the sat?

I'm finally taking the SAT the first time on June 3rd and I'm pretty nervous. But I'm gonna prep for 3-4 hours a day for each of the 5 days (no joke) and take a practice test at the end of each day.
