hey guys, can we just have a good discussion of some of the questions, problems that were on this test...want to get a feel of how I did...anyone who remembers any questions from the Math I on June 4 post here.

this is post test btw…

did not know how to do the one with the triangle in the hexagon. They gave you the area of the triangle.

Ran out of time with the “which value of x makes it decreasing”

I omitted two others, but forgot what they were.

Overall i feel barrons over-prepared me way too much and i could have got the same grade if i studied or not.

Does any one no any answers?

i thought the test was very hard…and yeah i didnt get that one either…or the one with x decreasing…what about the last question anyone? or the one wehre it said f(2) = something and f(4) = something, what is f(0) or something like that?

What was the 5 teams 4 times each one?

@NeedsHelp:
The hexagon one was 2*sqrt(3). It’s just a property of hexagons; an equilateral triangle like that is half of the area.
For the “which values of x” question, you could either take the derivative (if in Calc) or graph it and find the points of the maximum and minimum and find where it’s decreasing.

@nhcballer:
The last one was weird. I ended up creating a kite with the circle radii and the edge of the square and used law of sines to find the edge length. Answer was 2+sqrt(2) I think.
The f(0) question was linear, so you could find the equation of the line with the two points.

@vajayjay
There are 5 teams that all play each other 4 times. If you draw it out, it turns out the there are 10 games played total, and times that by 4 to get 40

what was the last one where they gave you the two tangent circles and the square?

What was the geometric series one?

was the answer to overlapping squares 1-x and answer to plane through cylinder triangle region

mt^ lol those are the other 2 i omitted. thx for reminding me, those 2 and the others listed above.

So how are 4 omits and 4 wrong? a 700? I dont get how can i get a 740 on SAT I math but lower on this stuff. Some questions were a joke though, especially at the beginning

** and geometric series; wasn’t r like 1/3. And you had the 5th term and had to find the 3, i think the 5th was something around 700, so you multiply by 3= 2100 and *3= 6300. It was something in the 6000s

mt, I responded the same way to those two questions, but I was unsure myself.

I thought the teams one was each team plays the other 4 times so each team plays 16 games * 5 = 60 games total??

The answer is 40, to make it simpler to understand make headings of team 1, team 2, team 3, team 4, team 5 (this is what i did).

Now under team 1, they play 2,3,4,5. Thats 4 teams at 4 each so 44=16.
Now under team 2, they play 3,4,5 (remember we already have 1 and 2 from b4). So 34=12
Under team 3, they play 4 and 5. So 24=8.
Team 4 plays team 5. So 14=4
Team 5 has already been included in all the other lists.
12+16+8+4= 40

yes, now i get it…**** got that wrong…thanks a lot though good explanation.

what did everyone get for the time asleep on the plane question?

im pretty sure i got 1/4

i put 2/3 for that one

it said she fell asleep halfway there, so lets say your on a trip of 4 miles. She fell asleep 2 miles in. Then she woke up half of the distance traveled needed to go the rest of the way. 1 half of the 2= 1 mile. So she slept 1 of the 4 miles. Please explain how you got 2/3

well come to think of it i think its 3/4 now
because put it this way
the whole ride is 50 mi
then she said she slept for half or sumthing so thats 25 mi
and she woke up with half the distance remeber 25/2 = 12.5
so 12.5+25= 37.5 so 37.5/50= 3/4
