Was there a Curve on the June ACT, and if so what was it?

It was my first time taking the ACT. I plan on taking it again in either September or October.

Reading had a fairly painful curve, math was very generous. Dunno about the others.

The June test in general was pretty terrible, the test makers were not on their A game. If they would just more thoroughly examine the difficulty of their tests, their would be no more crazy curves.

Can anyone provide factual information about said curve? It seems like any input anyone provides is going to be entirely subjective.

I thought I did horribly in Reading, but I ended up with a 34 (which obviously directly contradicts what a previous poster has mentioned. I thought the curve was wonderful). I knew my English was good, but certainly not a 36. Math I thought was pretty spot on, as was Science.

the fact that you thought you did horrible and got a 34 doesnt contradict anything about the curve. the curve is based on how many ppl got wrong and what their score was.

I don’t see what you’re getting at. The test was about the same as any other test, really. The science might have been a bit harder, and the math slighty easier. That’s about it though. The reading curve is always harsh.

I think they need to up the curves a bit seeing that the value of each score seems to be dropping by 10-20 points every year.

@curve, I can give my sub scores and what I got.

16\17 sub score - 32, english
18\15 subscore - 32, reading
18\18\16- 35, math

And from back in 07, I got a 16\15 on the english, only got a 29.

Well, what I mean is that the math section was REALLY hard, and the reading was REALLY easy. They should always be the same difficulty.

i agree on upping the curves

“The reading curve is always harsh”

This could not be farther from the truth. The reading test has the highest possible curve, which is -2 = 36. This curve was featured in 2008-2009 preparing for the ACT.

^That was one test, but it was probably harder then the other ones.

Most are like 0-36, 1-35, 2-34 \ 2-33.

The curve reflects the test’s difficulty to balance out.

And my math score hasn’t really changed, so I don’t think the curve was that different.

I got 33 back in the day and 35 this time after taking calc and precalc.

ok, a really easy math test would be -5 30, and a really hard one is -1 36 (like June)

it was definitely curvaceous

I thought it was pretty good that I missed 2 for a 35, so I dunno. I think that a 36 should equal none wrong.

exactly my point :P
