June SAT: Chemistry Post-Test Discussion

I don't think there's a thread for this yet, so i decided to make it (:
Let's discuss questions on here after the embargo's been lifted!

I skipped 12…
The rest of the 73 seemed easy
Hope I got them right

it definitely wasn’t a hard test, but i didn’t have enough time to do 4 :(

How many can you miss for 800? I omited two and probably missed 2 or 3 more.

I dont know how many I missed, I do know that some of them were easy
Can we discuss the questions now?

K, I’ll start off. The balancing question with CO3 somewhere and CA+2 and H2O and CO2, it asked for one of the coefficients. I think the answer was D/a coefficient of 4, but I can’t remember the whole reaction.

@giants: I recall it being 1 or 2…

Is the embargo lifted?

as do I
sounds familiar

ahh the questions actually weren’t that hard, but I freaked out. first SAT test ever. ah well, I’ll at least I’ll never make that mistake again. lesson learned. just hoping for 700+…

and I second hardworking21’s question

There were two balancing questions…one was one and the other was two…

when my proctor called out ‘5 minutes left’ i flipped
i had to go faster
if i dont get a 750 i want at least a 700
okay so umm any questions about the test
btw does the curve for a specific SAT II change?

Yeah the curve changes. The easier the test the harder the curve. I thought this was easier than the practice tests that I took, so it might be a harsher grading scale.

…■■■
umm so chromiun(VI) to Chromium
was the reduction?

@shoumik95
that’s what i got

what was the answer about iodide crystals + purple vapors? i put sublimination

I got sublimation twice on that section. Was limestone oxidation? More rust on iron was due to surface area (CE)?

me too
someone showed me a video when i asked
an iodine normally sublimes so yea
oh and for solid C–>CO2 gas
that was the sublimation too
and for the last question was that heat of sublimation?
and what did u get for the first four lab procedures?

Yep,

Chromium(VI) reduces to become chromium.
Iodine crystals sublime to form purple vapor (Iodine gas).

Acid rain on limestone was neutralization. Limestone is basic…

What do you guys think the curve is gonna be?
