June SAT Math II Thread

EducationOD:
Thanks! I think I got it now.

Also, this question was asked probably several times before, but are the sparknotes practice tests easier than the actual Math 2 exam? Maybe it’s just the fact that I’m struggling to read problems off the computer, but I’ve been getting around the low 700s on the sparknotes exams while I received a 780 on a released test.

@ecobaggs - i’d use the graphing calculator to find the period for that, altho i doubt something like that will come out on the math2 SAT.

800 on collegeboard practice! That’s a huge confidence booster.

^ I also just got an 800 on a college board test, raw score of 45. I’m still kind of nervous though.

Yeah I’m definitely concerned. I know I could make stupid mistakes and there could be some tricky problems. But I still feel better going into it because I hadn’t gotten any 800 practice before.

lol ezra me 2!it does make me feel slightly better sinc i got a 45. Definitely still running out of time though… i skipped 3 and got 2 wrong. any time saving tips?

where do u guys get full test on college board web? I can only find 28 sample quesitons…

It’s in the collegeboard official guide to mathematics subject tests, a book.

Ha ha Nspiredone, I also got 2 wrong and left 3 blank. For time just resist the urge to keep working on a problem until you figure it out. Don’t be afraid to skip it if you think it might take you a while to figure out.

Hey EducationOD, how do we download it onto our calculator…through a calculator link?

funny thing that the 3 i left blank take literally 2 seconds to do… lol

is there anything on 3 dimensional cartesian planes on the SAT II? Sparknotes has a small section on it, as well as on some of the practice tests, so I was wondering if anyone who took the CB tests knew.

yes. 3d coordinates are on the test. nothing to difficuilt though. Know distance formula and what function would look like a sphere.

@jubilee27:
Yeah you need a cable that can connect from the computer to the calculator. I think my calculator came with my cable.

@EducationOD:
Do you have some bugs on your MathOS? I see a couple on mine. First, When I got to Trianges > Solve Triangles > 2 sides and included ang, I can’t access “2 sides and included ang” and it says “ERR: LABEL”

Also sometimes my quadratic solver doesn’t give me the right answer. I tried 3x^2 + 9x + 5 = 0 and it gave me x = -6.626… and x= -20.374… when the right answers are x = -.736… and x = -2.264…

Is it just my calculator or do you have the same bugs too? Thanks

ezra that’s just distance formula with an extra variable right?

How are Kaplan practice tests? Easier or harder?

btw has anyone tried this book before?

Another question… should we concerned about foci in elipses?

just know that for ellipses the foci is c^2 = a^2 - b^2

anyone come acroos a problem where u have to identify a trig function via graph? cause it is mad hard to do csc and sec.

Can someone explain this problem to me in detail please? I am terrible with complex numbers: http://img39.imageshack.us/img39/8176/satmath2.png</a></p>
