This is a 1460, which is pretty solid, but wouldn't blow any schools out of the water. Additionally, I got a 32 on the ACT taking it cold (like I wasn't aware that there was a science section haha).

Anyway, my goal is ultimately UPenn, and my school generally gets 3-4 people in there a year. GPA wise, on Naviance, I fit right in with the other people that got in there with a 4.68 weighted. The average accepted SAT was a 1484 though, which I fall short of.

I kind of want to get SAT stuff just over with, and want to take it one more time. I am already signed up for 2 subject tests in June. My question is: should I cancel this and instead sign up for SAT I's again to hopefully pop the 1480+ and be done with it? Or should I take the subject tests? I could just study for the subject tests in the summer and do well, whereas I feel like my SAT skills may deteriorate. The problem with either method is that if I apply to UPenn early decision (deadline Nov.1st), the scores may not be back as the Oct SAT is on the 10th...does anyone know what would happen in that case?

Is it possible to cancel something you already bought (i.e. SAT II) for something you didn’t and whose deadline has already passed ? Because my May SAT I Score, too, aren’t enough for the school I wanna apply (like really not enough). I’ve, too, already signed for three SATs II that I’ve already started working for (wouldn’t make another fiasco). But it’ll be better I think, if it is possible, to retake the SAT I… So is it possible ?

As for karrbinator, if I were you, I’d rather just take the SAT II, because even though your score are not perfect, they’re still competitive. Those added with two near perfect SAT Subjects tests are better than just a perfect SAT I without any SAT Subject tests for an E.D. …

I’m in the same boat as you (my May SAT scores suuucked and my superscore overall still isn’t that good) and I’ve signed up for 3 SAT II’s in June.

I think what’s best is… get these SAT II’s out of the way. You’re going to have to take them sometime or another, and it’s best to take them now while you have the time to really study for them. October, November, December = ace the SAT’s.

It takes about 3 weeks to get SAT scores typically. October’s date for 2009 is the 10th, so you’d get them (at the latest?) on Halloween, giving you one day for the application. At the same time, I think you could probably send your app earlier, and then when the scores come, mail that over to them. Most colleges know that we’re still trying to cram our best scores in our senior year so I am sure they will understand.

Reading what you’re saying, it occurs to me that it would only be good if one is sure that he’s going to get a great score on his SAT II. If he’s currently struggling to get all the concepts cristal clear (what I’m doing right now, since we’re not supposed to see any of the stuff in the SAT II until our senior year - I’m European), then wouldn’t it be better to just retake the SAT (because those concepts should already been clear, just need to remember them and to study) ?

I actually have already done 1 subject test, and what I am thinking is that I am already in “SAT mode” but might lose that with an entire summer + a month elapsing…I think it would be much easier to study for a subject test over a summer because many of them (like US history) just require knowing specific facts…

if you scored well on the one you already did, then I would encourage you to retake the SAT. There’s still fifteen days before the test. Which is also why I think I’m going to retake it too (because just after it, it’s exams time - I dunno if you got them too in the U.S. or if your academic system is much more like France’s…).
So I checked on collegeboard and it says I must call to make a test type change. Is it how you’re going to do too ?

i did ok on the subject test i took but i prolly won’t use it…most schools require 2 and ill definitely take 2 anyway…and yea you can call collegeboard and switch it, at least thats what the website says…

Sorry to bring the subject back but I’ve been thinking about it since yesterday. If you’re finally going to retake the SAT, does it mean that you would not be able to apply early ? There’s definitely no way that they’d accept a late report of your SAT II (if you take them after summer break) ??
