June world history sat II

the algeria question was guerilla warfare. I forget if i changed it to soviet aid too...I hope not.

replying to enderkin,

note that Matteo Ricci established headquarters in Macao in the late 1500's, in an effort to convert the Chinese to Catholicism.

yeah, i got guerilla warfare.

germany included b/c US wanted containment??? or whatever?

no, the Algeria question was "more Europeans than Tunisia, Morocco."

It would not be guerrila warfare. I saw the classic movie "Battle of Algiers" in AP Euro class, and it clearly indicates that most of the fighting took place in an urban environment.

Wikipedia says: "Meanwhile, however, the French made Algeria an integral part of France, a status that would end only with the collapse of the Fourth Republic in 1958. Tens of thousands of settlers from France, Italy, Spain, and Malta moved in to farm the Algerian coastal plain and occupy significant parts of Algeria's cities"

awww.... but waht about the US containment Q after WW II?

i put down like sugar. it was like a thinly veiled question asking pretty much which crop created the greatest need for slaves or something.

Oh, and what was the question about the Africans and Indians when the British colonized them?

difficult test...who controlled sumer and the other area? one of the first questions

no idea. all i know is that i've got like 4 wrong so far. damn it.

Sargon controlled Akkad and Sumer.

oh crap- i think i put something stupid like Cyrus the Great

yeah got that one wrong. dammit. and it's sugar. i think... and male citizens could participate in greek politics right? hammurabis code... choice A?

Africans and Indians?

I think the answer was "more Africans converted to Christianity than Indians"

for example, the Ibo of Nigeria (former British colony) are Christian.

i thought for the athens/greek question it was that positions were determined by lot?

that's what i put also, but i later found out that's wrong...

according to Barron's page 54, the commander-in-chief and 9 generals were elected annually by the Assembly.

So I guess the answer is B, "few positions were determined by election"

i thought the more modern stuff was really easy but then there was so much random stuff that i've never heard of before. i didn't leave any blank because i managed to cross one answer choice off for every question, but then after that i would just guess randomly. but i got flanders cloth right and france africa and incans llama questions right just by luck, so maybe i didn't do horribly?
and i knew the gold coast is along western africa so i put down the one that mentioned senegal because thats in western africa, is that right? i don't remember an answer choice mentioning ghana, maybe i was hurrying too much.

crap, but i missed the athens question and the sumer question and probably the africa india question.

uhhhh... but aren't commander in chief and generals.. military positions?

oh please, let the curve be huge this time...

I put by lot, but now I'm unsure

hate to be repetitive, but could we discuss the japan question (again, about why it was not imperialized)? I really couldn't figure it out

Well, according to Barron's, the commander-in-chief and generals were plart of the "Executive branch"...
