Junior aiming for UC Berkeley

Hello! I'm new to CC, so hopefully I'm not breaking any rules here.

I'm a student in Cali, currently a junior in high school. I'm nearing towards my AP tests and finals, and college drama has been quite a fluster to deal with and think about.

I'm not an outstanding student by any means, hence I'm quite nervous. I still have a month and a half of junior year, junior summer (which I'm aware is quite important), and whatever portion of senior year that matters, if any.

So far, I'm rank 3 out of 592 in my classl, with a cumulative college GPA of 4.33, and a school GPA of 4.43 (unsure if this matters at all). My unweighted GPA is not very strong - a 3.87. On a side note, my school is somewhat academically competitive. We have several Ivy League'rs every year with a splattering of competitive UC goers.

I've taken Japanese as a foreign language up to Japanese 3.

Took APWH, APChem in sophomore year

Taking APUS, AP Psych, APEng, AP Stats, AP Calc AB, and AP Physics B as a junior.

Current GPA at the moment is a 4.83 weighted, hoping to get a 5.00, but it won't be a very easy thing to do.

No Sports as of now, did tennis in sophomore year, but left very early since I was JV.

Did Math-e-letes and AMC competitions, scored not so well on them in sophomore year.

Did and am doing Science Olympiad sophomore and junior year, was part of the A team in Junior Year and made it to states (will be going in two weeks). Got 4th place as a school, and 1st/4th in two separate events.

Was vice president of my Korean Club at my school at Sophomore Year.

Tutored for 20~30 hours in junior year, possibly more with the time left over.

Took first SAT, scored 1970. Did not study at all, am not proud with this score. Will retake 1 more time early senior year for a goal of 2300~ +.

Junior Summer plans
- I'm planning to write a book.
- ACT
- Possibly some internship or college class? Unsure.

Senior Year plans
- APGov, AP Econ, AP Photo (easy), AP Calc BC, AP Eng, TA/open period.
- Mock Trial, Academic Decathlon, possibly Science Olympiad again.

Sorry if its lengthy. So here is my situation.

I really want to get to Berkeley, it's always been a dream college of mine for a variety of reasons. I'm a fan of the English language - I love to write and read (although I've been reading less recently due to a lack of time). I'm not a fantastic writer or reader however, but I still love it. My desired career is to be a Lawyer, but I've had thoughts of having majors/careers affiliated with law, English, teaching, history, politics, and so on. I know UCB has a strong Law program.

I have three problems/issues now. First, my EC's and sports are nonexistent/low. My grades aren't the best, and frankly, as a student I personally don't feel like I'm a great student.

Second, looking at my history, I seem like a mathematical student. Yet, I don't want to go take that path in college. I blame this partially on me being uneducated about controlling my high school path AND because the counselors in my school aren't very helpful. I know I have to reveal a demonstrated interest in the major or subject I want, but I don't think I have.

This goes on to my last, and most practical issue - how can I fix this? I have some time left, particularly this summer. I'm planning to write a book, whether it'll be successful or not. I'm also going to study hard for the SAT for a much improved score. I feel that it's completely in my reach for a 2300+ if I put the effort into it. What else can I do? I'm joining clubs I wasn't aware was even in my school until it was too late ( my regret) next year. Should I try to take classes over summer that demonstrate interest or further my chances at UCB? Or perhaps take part in essay/speech competitions? My EC's and lack of sports bothers me since I've grown up to hear how important they are to college applications. My community service is not very strong either - I have some tutoring to my name, but nothing great. Should I put in a lot more hours when I can? Continue tutoring at a bigger scale?

Sorry if this entire post is too drawling or repetitive, it's been on my mind, and it would be great if I can get some advice!
