Do schools keep a record of the applications sent each year and students who were rejected. I applied this year to HYP (not likely to get in, but thought I would do so for the experience). Next year, i will apply for HYP too, if I get rejected this year, would they know that I was already rejected based on my file, and not really look at my application thinking i didn't make it the first round, why should i make it the second round?

did you talk to your guidance counselors prior to doing this?

Yeah of course, she needed to fill out a counselor's report and midyear. I don't know how I would have gotten those forms out with her consent. Oh wait, I know what I did, i hypnotized her and made her write a great recommendation form! hahahaa

if u get rejected and reapply they'll look at ur previous application and current application and decide. If u get rejected there's a high chance u'll be rejected again since ur app wasn't strong enough in the first place. Unless there's some significant change in ur apps u'll get rejected.
However who knows if u'll be rejected this year or accepted? Good luck. :)

" If u get rejected there's a high chance u'll be rejected again since ur app wasn't strong enough in the first place"

I don't know about that. If you get rejected, in could be based on the fact that you're a junior in high school. They might feel you lack the maturity to handly the college experience, and hold you off for a year. You never know. What are your stats?

no what i'm saying is that they'll reread his/her rejected application and that won't realyl help him/her next year.

She will get rejected again if she is rejected unless something dramatic is different in the application. Another year with a 4.0 and a few more APs or being voted senior class pres are meaningful at most schools, but not at top ones. If this year's app does not contain national honors or highly unusual ECs, next year's will need to.

first of all, it is possible for some people to do this without the consent of their GCs... how do you think home-schooled kids apply to college? no, they don't hire a GC

and like other people said, you'll prob get rejected if you were the first time. I personally don't see why anyone would do this, considering when they are a junior, they're stats are obviously not going to be as complete/impressive. And that would only increase their chances of rejection come senior year.

What's HYP?

You just asked the funniest question I have ever seen on this forum.
H is Harvard.
Y is Yale.
P is Princeton.

Well, how was I suppose to know that? Haha. I considered that, but I didn't know you could apply to those colleges as a junior. Give me a break; I'm not a diehard CCer.

Also, most colleges ask on the application: Have you applied to ________ College/University before? If so, when.
