junior boarding recommendations?

Let. love.live,

Thanks! Yes, we are considering both, but it has been hard to come by any specific info on either short other than their websites and general reputations. I am trying to gather as much info as possible prior to our visits, so we will know what to ask during our visit and to get a general sense of the school outside what the school tells you themselves so we can try to asses whether it is a good fit.

well personally I love how small it is. This may be an offset but like I said we act like a family. At lunch you see ninth grasders talking with the sixth graders. I have friends with people from eight grade sixth grade and a little bit ninth grade. Its really cool how we aren't "divided" by class. At our school we also have ski wednsdays when we go to a local ski mountain and ski half day as a school. (you can also croos country ski or snowboard) and its so awesome cause you get to hang with your friends and also if your learning its fun because like half the people cant ski or want to learn how to snowboard. I also do like the just the school. Like how Pretty everything is. The upper school buil;ding is actually realy pretty and our campus is jsut so amazing. One of my favorite things is that the class is not based on a test. Like in science clas we have for the past week been having a debate on global warming our homework, to reasearch stuff we saw in two movies we watched. We also have this cool thing called minterm where for three weeks (between thnaksgiving and christmas) we focus on one subject. Its realy cool. BASSICALLY i LVE everyhting. I like how I can walk into the dorm and just go into my friends room and be like hey lets go watch sum tv. I love how our head of school attends our morning mettings and i like how I have friends who can help me with serious stuff and their nto even in my grade./
THere is so much to talk about....maybe could you ask a more specific question like are people friendly(mostly but sometimes theres always a few boys who are like sixth graders ew ur lame... but if ur son is in eight grade that wont happen cuz hes older and everyone wil be like OMG your from SANTA FE!!!!!!!!!!! cuz the boarders are from like, ct, korea, new orleans, china, taiwan, vt, africa, england. etc... but its rele cool like when someone is from a big city like one person is from NYC and stuff idk but ya i love it....Oh about sports its really cool especially because ou get to act like totally crazy and stuff

also do you speak spanish? we have someone from cancoon so she would probably love you!

i saw u when u visited

Hello! Sorry it has taken me so long to respond. Indian Mountain has a pretty good science program. 7th grade is Earth Science, 8th grade is IPS, introduction to physical science and 9th grade is biology. the teachers are excellent and passionate about science, so if he wanted to push himself in that area they would probably support him. there is also an eco-club for kids looking to learn more about the environment and how to protect it. Have you already visited?

Good day Alexsmom, apparently you have been made lol! Having coming all this way East, can only assume you and yours have run the gauntlet of Pre-prep schools of New England. Any comments and/or observations are you willing and able to share?

The school has a great band program (the band director is a retired college band professor), and it just sounded great for my son, who is in 8th grade, but it's a bit too far. You mentioned you wanted a school out west.
Not so sure about the academics, but I'll bet the kids are nice. that is actually quite important, as you know. You might want to investigate. He can always do summer programs to beef up his academics if you feel this school doesn't do a good job that way, although I imagine the education is adequate.
Oh, it is San Marcos Baptist Academy. Still, we are Catholics and I wouldn't hesitate to send my son were it not so far.

For Alexsmom, just curious on what you decided.
