Thank you everyone. This is all good info. I am leaning towards Fay right now, so she can come home on weekends. But we will visit Grier and North Country in February. We applied to a few day schools, too. I guess we just have to wait and see where she gets in! I’m trying to remind myself that there’s no point borrowing trouble.
We’ve decided to go with Grier! She loved everything about it. I don’t like how far away it is, but I do have to admit that it seems like an ideal place for her.
Congratulations, @nantar!
Congrats!
I wish I had seen this thread earlier!! JBS is the best boarding school experience of all! Anyone who was shutout of this admissions cycle and are thinking of repeating 9th should definitely consider a JBS as an amazing option for next year . JBS is the perfect launchpad for SS.
I went to JBS ( many, many moons ago and at a much younger age than most kids today ) , and my kids went to JBS V Form- VII Form . We all agree that it was ( without question ) the best experience of all .
We just got back from a fairly long husband working - vacation, and the boys joined us for the last half . While we were there we found out that a beloved JBS dorm parent/ mentor ( and his beautiful wife ) were staying nearby and we asked them to join us for dinner one night .
The stories were hilarious. During dinner I was crying I was laughing so hard … Mr. Dorm parent recalled the time when he threatened a rowdy K2 with a hockey stick and how his mother ( me ) begged to sign a waiver so he could hit K2 with a hockey stick. We reminisced about so much fun stuff and about a certain teacher who used to hand out McDonald’s job applications with failed papers. Best mini JBS reunion ever!!
JBS is a wonderful experience ( academically and in every way imaginable ) and they’re all very good. SS placement is also wonderful, too, because they’re very candid and good about matching kids with the right schools.
Fay, Rumsey, IMS, etc… all of them . You really can’t go wrong and you’ll absolutely love the people you meet while you’re there . The parents, by the way, are wonderful, too. I’m still very close to many moms and the kids still get together with their friends , too.
Like my husband used to say when we were driving away from every JBS family weekend: Those people are doing God’s work.
Indeed.
Just the best…
I love hearing your story, PhotographerMom! We’re very excited. I don’t think I know anyone who has gone to JBS, and it seems to young, but it is the standard age to go to boarding school in some countries. I hope that she has a wonderful time.
